Yesterday, I read an editorial in the Spokesman-Review that touched my heart deeply. It was an obituary for the Rathdrum Prairie, but much of what it said could be applied locally.
Most slightdetour readers will not be surprised with my response to this piece, which I posted on the Spokesman's "News Is a Conversation" blog.
So, in the interest of time on this busy morning before the big "wreath unveiling" at the fairgrounds, I'll provide links to the editorial and to "News Is a Conversation" where you can read the response.
I hope clicking the links will work; if not, cut and paste them. The editorial's message will most likely hit home to many residents who've loved this area for most of their lives and to anyone who's watched it transform almost overnight.

Hope you have time to read both, and I wish you a happy Saturday.

Marianne.....
I loved your piece. I live in a location in Houston...for the past three and a half years I have watched acres and acres of land (once used for ranching) turned into cute little houses...where are all these people coming from? I keep asking....but no one answers.
Marianne,
The Spokesman will not allow access unless you're a subscriber. The links don't work for us non-subscribing pukes.
