Sleepy head patrol

I don't know how long I'll write before the last two sleepy heads in this household start milling around upstairs. I'm sure it won't be long, although Annie Sleepyhead will grab every last wink before rising, taking a shower and gathering her clothes to take back to Seattle. Margaret Sleepyhead may allow herself more time to get ready by beating Annie to the bathroom.

Her flight to Sacramento leaves just after ten, while Annie doesn't depart until three. So, Annie and I will kill a few hours in the big city. I do have to go to Nordstrom's to pick up my next supply of Bobbie Brown lipstick (clove). Then, it may be late enough in the morning for lunch at O'Doherty's, Annie's favorite downtown eatery.

But then, this is Pig Out in the Park weekend in Spokane. Could be a stroll through Riverfront Park may mean an eating detour this time. I guess we'll know later in the day about that. For now, I must admit the best part of the day will be pulling back into the driveway cuz it's gonna be a long day for Kiwi and Annie Dog to stay in the garage.

Bill Sleepyhead led the patrol this morning by rising at 4 a.m. By 5 a.m., he was on his way to Priest Lake Ranger Station for the 6:30 a.m. fire team meeting. He's been working on the Hughes complex of forest fires. His assignment is logistics coordinator, so he arranges transportation and meals for the crews. They let him go for a few days for Margaret and Annie's visit, but he'll be back at it until the fire danger dies down.

Annie, by the way, came through her wisdom tooth surgery in fine shape. She did have the chipmonk cheeks for about three days, but by last night the swelling was pretty much gone. She hardly took time to rest, however, and it was catching up with her last night. Of course, an afternoon of cliff diving at Green Bay on Lake Pend Oreille doesn't exactly translate into taking it easy.

At least one sleepyhead is up and in the shower upstairs, so I'm gonna bring this to a close. Soon, they'll be downstairs and soon thereafter, we'll be on the road. A few hours later, they'll be safely back in their cities, and the memories of Labor Day 2006 will create some good office conversation for the next few days.
