North Idaho summer fun
If the blogger gods don't eat them up, I've finally posted all my pics for this morning. And, there's already a query from Helen about the fish. She asked if it was really that big or if it was an illusion. I'll just leave that up to the experts and say this is an example of the lunkers caught in Boulder Creek these days, and I caught it, by the way. I also caught the one in Bill's hand.
In the past two weeks, we've hiked, geocached, fished and horsed around (on better days). My sister Laurie is showing off the beautiful new show halter she and Barbara bought for Lily and me as a birthday present. Lily will be showing off herself and the halter with Laurie at the lead Saturday, July 14 at 8:15 a.m. at the Spots of Fun Show here in Sandpoint. So, if ya want to see a bunch of pretty horses like Lily, show up. I'll be announcing the show.
Barbara and Laurie have also added pontoon boating to the North Idaho summer fun mix, and they convinced me that I "oughta" buy one for myself. So I did yesterday, and they put it together for me. After the initial total uncoordinated efforts of learning how to paddle the thing, I was able to keep up with them on a nice trip down "the jewel of Sandpoint summer months, Sand Creek," which is also the same place we spent our summer days as little kids. Talk about coming full circle as a 60-year-old.
We enjoyed the sounds of singing birds and dabbling our tootsies in the warm water while watching all those cars line up and sit waiting their turn at the Y. We'll be out with the pontoon boats again today, probably Round Lake.
It's a good life on these lazy, hazy, crazy and beastly hot days here because we have lots of options in gorgeous outdoor settings. We don't take our good fortune for granted.
And, one more thing: Happy Birthday to my neighbor, friend and classmate, Gary Finney who joined the 60-year-old club today. Now, on to the daily watering; enjoy the photos.
