Saturday began a new era here at the Lovestead. Bill doesn't get too excited about moving manure---with a barn pick, that is. Give him a brand new tractor, and he'll head straight for the manure pile. Life should get a little easier around this farm, thanks to the new Kubota, delivered Saturday morning and fired up for work a few minutes later. We both practiced using the front-end loader by moving a few small piles from one big pile to another.
Next time we have sink holes, we can take care of the problem more quickly. A lot of money went into this purchase, but we figure we'll save a lot in medical bills by saving our bodies and letting the tractor do the work.
The dogs had a good time this weekend too. Little Miss Kea has abandoned the leash, thanks to big sister Kiwi who keeps her out of dangerous areas, like horse corrals and Yak pens. Those Yaks belong to our next-door neighbor Jim, but they originally came to Jim's from the Upper Tibbs Place when John Jennings owned it.
Today, John Fuller comes to take care of horses' feet, and he'll be pleased to see that Big Miss Lily has finally grown some decent-sized hooves to support that big body. We're celebrating Lily's one-year anniversary at the Lovestead. I don't know if she is celebrating, but we're thrilled to have her.
