OK, I give up! Being new to the area, I have no idea where these pics were taken but my dogs would kill to walk on that dirt road!

Where would I find this little bit o heaven???

Hi, JoAnne,

Drive to Bonners Ferry. Then, take one of the roads that crosses the Kootenai Valley. Actually, there's one that leads out of town toward the Kootenai Wildlife Refuge.

Once to the refuge, you'll be on the Westside Road. Just stay on it until you get to Smith Creek----probably 15-20 miles. You'll be getting great views of the valley, and possibly some dikes up there may be bare and accessible.

This area is a road that leads back east across the valley toward Port Hill, just before the Canadian border. The creek is Boundary Creek and one of the photos shows the border swath on the mountain.

It's a great drive and you'll have a wonderful walk. Plus, there are lots of pheasants up there.
