For the past couple of years, Bill has been telling me about the Tibbs grave at the Hope Cemetery. We drove up there Friday night, and then I solved the mystery in my mind. Seeing Richard A. on the grave was the clue. I couldn't imagine any other Tibbs families, but I'd forgotten about "Dick" Tibbs, the Sandpoint-area sign painter, and, Bill would never have know of him because the grave shows that Dick died in 1973, just before Bill moved here.
Dick Tibbs probably preceded Gene Hayes as the local go-to guy for commercial signs around Sandpoint. Then, Gene had his era before he and Eunice (Perks) Hayes moved on to Enterprise, Oregon. Wonder who the head sign painter is around Sandpoint these days. I know that Maria Finley Larson does murals. Anybody else?
