Dear Webster,
My mom has been trying to teach me a lot of stuff, like posing for pictures, but I don't always learn as quickly as Kiwi. She loves posing for pictures, but I've got other stuff on my mind, like that Lily horse over there in the corner.
Mom has really instilled the need to send thank you letters to folks for doing nice things. She learned that from her mother who taught her that people do appreciate having their good deeds acknowledged. So, I'm doing my assignment this morning and thanking you for the box of goodies you sent to Kiwi and me from the desert yesterday.
Webster, dear bro, I miss you, but when that box came, I was ecstatic, and so was my mom. Kiwi was excited too, and Annie understood that all those toys were meant for her too. In fact, she and Kiwi got in a growling match over the cool frisbee you sent us. Kiwi likes to hog it; she's always so competitive, and I'm happy to let her be that way. I'm much more laid-back, and, besides, Kiwi doesn't know about the chew toy my mom put in my crate last night.
Mom hasn't let us play with the tennis balls in socks yet. She's been kinda complaining about all the coffee cans we've dragged into the yard, says we're making a mess. So, we're going to try to clean up our messes better and then maybe we can get a little sock tennis in.
Mom tried to make me pose for this picture in front of the Border Collie crossing sign today, but I just didn't want to do that. I know Connie is going to feel a little dissed today because now people might not notice the "wolf crossing" sign she gave to our mom a few years ago. Mom reassured me, though, that the "wolf crossing" sign at the end of the driveway will scare the real mean people and critters away. The good folks will drive on in, see that Border Collie crossing sign and know they've found Nirvana.
So, thanks, Webster, for being so thoughtful. And, do thank your mom and dad for helping you get the package to the post office. I understand you're bringing the paper in to your folks every day. Maybe the day will come that you can mail your own goodies to us. In the meantime, we sure appreciate everything, including the bird book. Mom sure does want someone to tell her what that bird is down below.
Happy May Day to my dear brother in Palm Springs. Give your folks a hug from all of us at the Lovestead on this beautiful day.
Much love,
Your sister Kea
