Snow shoeing off the Grouse Creek grid

Bill, the dogs and I took off yesterday afternoon for one of our favorite places: Grouse Creek. We've both spend our share of quality time in the area about 15 miles northeast of Sandpoint, and we always enjoy any outing there.

We drove as far as the road had been plowed. The remaining section is kept open through snow cats. First, we tromped through an area off the road, heading down toward the creek which showed the true drama of a winter icepack broken up by warmer temperatures. Still, the creek is COLD but beautiful.

After meandering along the shore for a while, we moved back up to the road and walked about a mile northward. Doggies were racing up and down hillsides while humans just walked and enjoyed the solitude, the fresh air and the beauty of winter in a quiet place.

Sounds wonderful, Marianne. Thanks for the vivid description - I can picture it perfectly!
