Afternoon on the dike

Walking the Dike: There's no better place to go when the sun comes out but the snow's still deep in early spring than the Kootenai Valley.
We took the Boise Loves and the grandpuppies on an outing there yesterday. Dogs could run fast, far and free. People could walk on bare ground, and we could all enjoy rays of sunshine as well as magnificent splendor.

We saw more than our share of cedar waxwings along the creek at the beginning of trail leading to the dike on Nature Conservancy land. It's the old Ball Creek Ranch in the northwest section of the Kootenai Valley, and it's the best any season of the year.

No cars, no motorized vehicles of any kind, just lots of space and oodles of beautiful scenes.

I had never seen a flock of snow geese flying until yesterday. It was a sight to behold.

A good time was had by all: doggies, people and happy birds.
