Kelli Keough, Vice President Investor Services of The Charles Schwab Corporation, presided over yesterday's NASDAQ Closing Bell.
Kelli, directly behind the "W," graduated from Sandpoint High School in 1987. I had the honor of helping her with college applications when she went off to Yale University.
Kelli's brother is Sandpint High golf coach, Mike Keough. Her sister-in-law is Mike's wife and Idaho State Sen. Shawn Keough.
Her parents, Barbara and Tom, share my daughter's birthday. Tom was my principal for a few years at SHS.
Kelli, you make us all proud.

Kelli was the reason I gave up golf. As I was whacking (or not) the ball in the wrong direction on the fairway, Kelli "played through" using a set of little short clubs. WHACK, run, WHACK, run...she may have been 6 years old and clearly was better at the game than I. My logic added that clear fact to the cost of sending pricey balls in open RR cars to Spokane and beyond (those who played the 9-hole Elks course in the 70's know how that happened), convinced me that I'd found yet another athletic activity that I was no good at.
Florine
Thank you for the kind words, Marianne! It was quite an experience.
Florine - what memories of the Elks golf course! What made me laugh the most is that I now have a son who is 7, and who is known all through Austin for how he also runs and whacks! Didn't know you could pass that gene along. :-)
