Note to myself: Find out for sure why Bottle Bay got its name. Seems to me, based on vague information buried in the recesses of my memory, that it has something to do with its shape.

Bottle Bay is east and slightly north of Sandpoint on Lake Pend Oreille, a little farther down the road from where Willie and Debbie live.
They live at Contest Point, which is across from Kootenai Point. Lots of Points around the lake, including Sandpoint. If I recall correctly Contest Point got its name because of some sort of competitions held out on the lake.

Yesterday while driving to their house, I took along my camera and stopped for a few shots. It was one of those picture perfect days. After several days of fogged in grayness, the views of the mountains around the lake are so stunning that even oldsters like me feel as if we're seeing it all for the first time.

So, I hope you enjoy a taste of beauty along the winding road to Bottle Bay.

Special Note:
The family, mentioned below lost their home near Round Lake to fire a couple of days ago. If you'd like to help out, the note below from their friend Chris Neu explains what you can do.

Hello everyone-

Thank you all so much for your outpouring of generosity to the Hilder family.

I just got off the phone with the person who is basically organizing helping these guys out. Her name is Tamara Michael feel free to call her if you want (208-704-0599). Per Tamara’s request, she has encouraged anyone who wants to help, that the kids’ sizes are as follows:

Jaden (girl, size 6X-7, and shoe size 12)

L J (boy, size 5)

The family has a place to stay in Post Falls, so a huge need is covered there. However, the other real needs that they have can best be accomplished through gift cards and such for places like Wal Mart, Target, Fred Meyer and so on. This is obviously a very difficult time for this family and any help you can offer will always be appreciated.

As I mentioned earlier, I will be seeing them on Saturday afternoon, so if it works out for you or someone you know to help, just let me know.
Thanks again,

Chris Neu

The pictures are beautiful. I think the name Bottle bay has something to do with Jones Distributing. I remember something about this from my aunt Joyce Jones. Also, I think the shape had something to do with it.
