Doggies in Stump Heaven at Meserve's field next door.

Sunday, just prior to the Super Bowl, Debbie and I took the dogs for a walk in Meserve's big pasture. We figured we'd be sitting for a while, so their opportunities to get out for a good run would be limited for the next several hours.

All four Border Collies appreciated the opportunity to romp and sniff in the wide-open field and around the pond.

Kea especially liked that pond area cuz she found the deer leg, which never left her sight for the rest of the trip around the field. As lovely as they are, Border Collies can be just as selfish as any other being on this earth.

Yesterday I found Kea retrieving the deer leg from my flower bed where she had hidden it for safe keeping.

Fortunate for Kea, she did not attempt to bury the treat among my flowers. Later, when she was not looking, I took the deer leg and put it in the pickup bed for transport elsewhere.

I hid the Kea's lovely find because of too many vivid memories of a few years back when Ebbie, our Black Lab, insisted on continually depositing her slowly disintegrating and decaying deer head on the deck. Maybe she heard the word "DECadent," and got confused.

This morning I'm sending you to Debbie's blog, where you can watch a video featuring her new bike. She picked it up last week in Spokane and has had a chance to ride it a few times. Both Paige and Debbie would be delighted for you to sign up as a fan and follow their adventure via the blog.

Also, Annie went on a hike last weekend and has some new photos posted on her blog: (www.nnblogspot.com).

And, finally, how many times in life do we get the opportunity or have the need (sometimes both work hand in hand) to reinvent our professional selves?

With the freelance business going south these days, I'm looking into different possibilities, all involving dirty hobbies.

Well, my friend Erica has done a pretty good job of taking on a new career identity, and a well-known online news service featured her story a few days ago.

And, speaking of a few days, Erica is soon taking on yet another identity, that of "Mother." We hope for the best as she and Matt await the birth of their first child.

In the meantime, enjoy the story:

Happy Tuesday.
