Saturday Slight and the Madness begins

Well, I tried. Still haven't been successful at posting photos, even after deleting several from my blog. This morning's attempt was fruitless, so I'm stumped again as to what to do. Posting photos is fun, but apparently, I'm still black-listed, and it appears to be for life.

So, life and Slight Detour will have to move on with words alone until I figure out a solution.

Anyway, it's the Saturday before the madness begins. My mother is so excited about tomorrow's 3 p.m. PDT (remember to spring forward) CBS sports seeding show that she checks with me every day to make sure she has all the details---time, channel, etc. I think she's not alone in her enthusiasm for the upcoming NCAA Tournament.

As I left her house yesterday, she said if they [who else but the ZAGS] lose, it will be okay. I agreed, reminding her that it will surely be okay because winter is over, and this year the ZAGS helped us through an easy one.

Still, Mother doesn't want them to lose, nor do any of us diehards. I was interested to see that the ZAGS have not been alone in the losing this week. Powerhouses Villanova and Syracuse faltered in their tournaments too.

So, when March Madness comes, despite the seeds, it's a new ball game, and I believe our ZAGS are going to surpass their past NCAA tournament achievements.

The boomers are sounding off up at Schweitzer while the geese are squawking down here in the Selle Valley. Taylor's rooster is crowing---what's he going to do when we spring forward?

We had another night of rain; they had snow at the mountain, and now the sun is shining. I hope the weather doesn't get all screwed up with the Daylight-Saving Time. Having it rain at night and the sun shining in the day time has been pretty nice.

~~~~~
I learned last night for the first time in my life, thanks to CBS News, that it's Daylight-Saving Time---no "S" on the Saving. I'd be willing to bet that there are just as many people who have said "Savings" all their lives as those who insist that last month was FebYOUary. As for me, I go the extra mile and pronounce FebBREWary correctly.
I do that because I taught spelling, but I never gave Daylight-Saving Time as a spelling word, so on this morning after learning a new thing, I'm going to work really hard to work "saving" and not "savings" into my vocabulary. That's difficult for a one-dimensional mind like mine, but it's worth making the effort.
And, speaking more of Daylight-Saving Time, they always make a big deal about how we're all going to lose that hour of sleep. I haven't lost that hour for years cuz I spring forward long before 2 a.m. How many people actually stay up until 2 a.m. to turn their clocks forward or backward?
Just doesn't make sense when time is going to do what it's going to do, regardless of when you mess with the clock. So set the clocks forward at 6 p.m. tonight, go to bed early and have a restful night.
Speaking of "savings," how many of you noticed or are noticing while filing your tax returns that your savings accounts haven't exactly been doing you much good besides providing a place downtown for you to keep your money?
This week, I read one account where the party earned all of $1.16 cents for a full year's worth of saving, saving, saving her trust fund.
Well, it does take a lot of trust these days to put your money in the bank and especially when you realize that it's probably not doing much more for you than it would if you stuffed it in your mattress. Somehow I don't even shudder while thinking that if I took some out, I might lose 50 cents of interest.
The only thing that keeps people from hiding their cash in the mattresses these days is the news that bed bugs are staging a comeback. And, they might eat it. The banks should advertise that because those interests payments aren't exactly the greatest enticement anymore.
~~~~~

I guess I'd better quit the nonsense and get outside to enjoy this day. I was going to Seattle this weekend to run in the St. Paddy's dash, but decided against it----cuz it costs money and I saw on my tax returns how much money I wasn't making while saving.

So, I'll find a different way to save by not spending cash but spending my time enjoying life in beautiful North Idaho. That's a savings worth remembering. Happy Saturday.

good morning, i ran into that same problem, and had to buy more space for $5... and that solved the problem. it was easier than changing blog locations. somewhere in the dashboard info you can find the place where it gives the option to buy more space. i hope it works cause i LOVE your pictures! i love reading too, but the pictures always make me feel like i'm at home. :) have a great weekend!

Thank you, Jamie. That's precisely what I have to do. Took me a while to have it all sink in. Will start doling out the dollars cuz they've got me hooked now.

Well, you can put your savings in to it... because you will get a heck of a lot more interest on your blog than you will dollars and cents in the bank...lol..
