This and That Wednesday

I guess I've gone on overload for posting pictures on Blogger. Came to that conclusion after the last half hour of trying to post a picture.

Now, Blogger let me post that ugly picture yesterday with no complaints, but when I attempted to use a good one this morning, the explanation said I'd used too much of my allotted space.

I don't know how long this black listing goes on. Maybe I've overdosed on my space for life; maybe just for this month. Since we spend enough time already at the computer, I'm not going to add any more minutes or hours to research the situation.

That's kind of how I am. If something works, fine. If not, I cuss and don't bother to go into the technicalities of the situation. People will tell me all the intricate details about a certain camera, like what f-stop it uses or how many megapixilliacs it has and that doesn't mean a thing to me. Just let the damn thing work.

I'm the same way about computers. If it works, don't get the hammer. If it doesn't, use great restraint and hope the hammer is locked up. Besides, I have enough technological genius friends out there that surely one of them will provide me insight as to why I may never be able to publish pictures on my blog again.

And to think after yesteday's discussion that half a blurry dog could be the last sample anyone sees of my photography. Maybe there's a message there.

Anyway, it's a beautiful day today, a little on the cold side, and the schedule is busy. I'm driving up to Bonners Ferry----yes, past the Mennonite Bread Basket Bakery, and, yes, I'll stop there----to go see a man about horses. He's a trainer who specializes in reining, and since he doesn't understand the workings of computers even as well as I do, he won't submit to an email interview.

That's not a problem for me cuz I like the excuse to get out there and meet new people. This gentleman follows his wife wherever she goes. She's a Customs agent in charge of both the Porthill and Eastport ports. Sorry about the redundancy, but I don't want to go into the workings of the English language enough today to figure out a different way to say "port."

The only thing that bothers me about the "ports" we have on the border up there north of Bonners Ferry is that in my mind, ports have big bodies of water around them. These ports are almost land-locked, but I guess that's what the Customs people call them, so I won't argue.

It should be fun meeting Marv and watching his horses go through whatever paces he's working on today. Reining patterns can be pretty intricate, just like dressage, and horses have to be trained well to get through those patterns with some reasonable speed. I expect to see a few sliding stops and rollbacks today.

Later, after returning, I'm planning to go to the Women Honoring Women March meeting at my friend Kathy Chambers' house. The application blank appeared in today's paper, so I'm sure the nominations for this year's class of classy ladies over 65 and endowed with a lot of wisdom will start rolling in. Next month we'll select up to five honorees.

Guess that's enough this and that for this morning. Hope you all have a nice day, and I'm going to say some "Hail Mary's" in hopes that Blogger will let me do pictures again some day.

Note: Since Blogger won't let me post any pictures today, let's be sneaky. Let's go over to Annie's blog and look at her most recent set of "breath-taking" shots: (www.nnlove.blogspot.com) And if you like those, click on her Flickr link.

you have used up all the memory they allow you -- no prob -- go back to the begining of you blog -- way back when you started and delete some of the older pictures -- this will give you space again!

To make more space in your house, throwing the old stuff out is a sane option. But hey, this is the Internet, there are no limitations, old stuff is forever here.

Many services will allow you to embed photos into your blogger blog.

flickr will allow it, here's the instructions:
http://www.flickr.com/blogs.gne
For a couple of bucks per month, they will host an "unlimited" quantity of photos. Then, when you give blogger the boot and move to some other blogging platform, your photos can come with and not be trapped inside the old blog.
I expect that Picassa, photobucket and others also offer "embedable" photo hosting.

Thank you, Mr. Nice Husband. I shall consider all suggestions and come up with some solutions.

After all, when one is addicted to publishing somewhere, anywhere, one finds a way.

I appreciate your guidance. Have a great day up there in the North Center Valley country.
