No rooster crowing today; doves are mourning. That's quite a different sound from the usual chirping I hear while posting each day. That rooster over there at Taylor's is on its own time. I would never set my clock by him, that's for sure.
Anyway, I don't understand why the doves mourn on another beautiful day as this one. That's their thing, though. So, I'll let them mourn while I rejoice: it's a great Friday in North Idaho.
I've gotta get going fairly quickly this morning. This is the day the Farmin fifth graders in Miss Tibbs' class come to the farm. So, Laurie has enlisted Debbie and me to help out.
She has a new twist on her offerings this year, which usually include a quick highlight of colors, breeds, conformation, grooming and longeing. Afterward, the kids each get a horse to groom.

This year dressage rider/teacher extraordinaire Gayle Redinger (www.redingerdressage.com) will put on an exhibition for the kids. That's at 12:45 or so, if anyone wants to sneak in.
I've seen Gayle and her horse perform, and I'm betting a lot of fifth graders go home to night with visions of pure grace and beauty of the equine variety, and those visions will remain in their minds for a long time.

They'll also get a copy of the new Sandpoint Magazine, which features a photo of Gayle in action. Billie Jean told me the magazines will be distributed around town this morning, so if you're a local, pick one up. They should be good.
After helping Laurie, two sets of Loves will meet at Keokee for the publication barbecue, and then we'll watch the Lost in the '50s parade.
Today marks the announcement of The Festival line-up, and Nitty Gritty Dirt Band will be the headliner for Country Night at the Festival, which runs from Aug. 5-15.

Big day ahead, and lots of watering to do, so I'll call it good on the morning muttering , except to say to the gals from the SHS Class of 1962 who stopped by yesterday----it was great to see YOU. Maybe this summer you can come again and splash around in that pool behind the barn.
