A Poem for a Reason in This Season

Twas the 14th of December when all through the house,
Not a creature was stirring--thank God--not even a mouse.

Bill had left for work over in Blanchard on this gray day
Debbie had not yet brought grandpuppies to stay.

Marianne just sat at her computer and stared into space.
"What to write! What to write!" with a frown on her face.

All I can think of is all that must be done.
This is the part of each Christmas that just is not fun.

There are presents to wrap, more cookies to bake.
Cards must be sent.  Oh, heiferdust  and for Heaven's darn sake!

Get off this "to do" stuff, and crank up the tunes.
Go dance like a pig and oink at the moon.

We get so darn caught up in what must be done
We forget that in this season there's got to be fun.

"Gol darn," she typed.
"Get off your big duff.
Get out of this mood.
Go do some other stuff.

Once you break from the "gotta do" routine
And create some new fun in your general scene,
You can always go back to the cards, tree and other "to do's"
And, take 'em on without suffering the to-do blues.

With this in mind, Marianne kept typing away
Figuring she'd worked herself out of this funk
She read what she'd written---twas not just junk
Instead, there was inspiration to get through this glum day.

So, she finished her poem and planned to go dance and to play,
Smiling and happy cuz she figured out something to say!

Oink!

Oink, and Amen ....
I sit here looking over my laptop at the grey and white of the day, and feeling like a dishrag..
I wrote my blog a bit ago, and had to erase over half of it. It was hard enough to write, with nothing in my head but the grey and white of the view. So erase half and turn it around to appreciate what I have.
And as you know.. we both are so blessed for the life we have, where we are, and what we do..
So here it to you, Marianne... cheers, and have a great day.
