I know that I post lots of photos of Schweitzer Mountain Resort, with the perspective we can see from our west door and kitchen window.
Nonetheless, this morning's photo has significance.
This is the last week of the ski season at Schweitzer, and this morning's ski report revealed that the mountain has set a record.
Never before in Schweitzer's history have the statisticians recorded 211 inches of snow at the top.
The radio announcers quickly converted that to 17 feet, which has to melt in the next couple of months.
With that amount, and considering how moisture has done more than its share of damage in the county this past week (a state of emergency with three county roads closed), the announcers wondered out loud if the folks controlling the levels of Lake Pend Oreille were doing their ciphering.
The other reason I posted this picture and the jet stream photo was to show off the BLUE SKY behind the mountain. Yup, we're getting a spring day today with the temperature expected to reach 67 this afternoon.
And, yup, tomorrow we'll return to our winter doldrums for a few days with highs in the 40s, lows in the high 20s and an 80-percent chance of rain.
The good news, however, is that next week's forecast shows 50s and 60s and no raindrops.
Of course, I've seen that before, and when those predicted nice days get closer, they start changing the forecast.
In other news, I don't know what it is about these NCAA national championship games. Last night during the second half of the Kentucky-Kansas, I looked over and Bill, the birthday boy, was sound asleep.
The only different aspect of the scene from the night we watched the NCAA football championship in January was that Bill was not wearing an LSU cap while sleeping during the second half.
Kentucky fans are happy this morning, but many of us who've loved the games leading up to the championship feel short-changed. And, that's not because Kansas lost (sorry to my Jayhawk fans) but because we hoped for another nail biter.
As with the football championship, one wonders if a completely superior team can signal a "sleeper" with these national title games.
Then, again, maybe Bill just fell asleep cuz he's Social Security age and because he spent SO much time on his Kindle Fire yesterday. I love it when I can actually pick out a gift that he will like, and it's evident Bill likes his Kindle.
It was a great day for working outside yesterday. Lots of outdoor beds are looking better, but more await. The lawn area is almost cleaned up. Maybe my little veggie and flower starts in the greenhouse will get a boost from today's sun.
If all goes well, by next week I'll be mowing grass and taking photos of daffodils.
In a nutshell, it's a good day with a feeling of optimism in North Idaho, so I'm heading off to make the most of it.

Sad to see Kentucky take it...Calipari represents a bit of what's not right in college sports.
Photo of the contrail will have some folks nodding...about the conspiracy by our feds to change world climates by seeding nickel iodide and disguising it as contrails...climate is changing--you never know who's behind it!

What do you mean "not a nail biter"? 5 points with less than 2 minutes to go! It was nail biting enough for us. We thought it was a great game - especially when Kansas came back to make it exciting right to the end. Sorry your team didn't win - we didn't "have" a team - just enjoyed the great basketball. Much better than boring professional basketball!
