Monday Miscellany

It's back-to-work day for many family members, and our new little friend Foster is back home with his owner, Raine, in Seattle.
Foster seemed to enjoy his stay at the Lovestead.  With the big dogs, there was adventure aplenty, including romping through the woods and getting initiated into the Lovestead Coffee Can Club.
Foster passed his coffee-can carrying and chewing exams with flying colors.  He received low marks in coffee-can stealing, which involves snatching the red Folgers can directly from the teeth of your opponent.
With another visit and some maturity, however,  I'm sure Foster will excel in the afore-mentioned category.
Anyway, we loved him, and he warmed up to us, racing to greet each of us yesterday morning after acting a bit stand-offish the first day.
We enjoyed a fun-filled family-oriented weekend with lots of good food and a helping or two of springlike weather.
Because of people coming and going, our Easter feast took place Saturday night, allowing us a beautiful Sunday afternoon for outdoor activities, including a bike ride along some Selle Roads.
This week at Farmin Elementary Laurie will begin a unit on forestry.  She's getting a little help from a forester in the family.
Bill spent yesterday afternoon gathering up samples of various species of trees for Laurie's students to study for tree identification, etc.
Laurie will be taking her students to the Idaho State Forestry Contest in May, and it's easy to see her competitive juices going.

Today I'll drive Jim back to the airport, and tonight he'll be back in Grants Pass after some visiting with Mother and other family members.
Soon Debbie will be here with the grandpuppies, and within that same timeframe, I'll be taking Pita (my sister Barbara's blue heeler) to the vets to determine why she's stiff and sore.
Later this week, Willie, Debbie and Barbara will take off with SHS students in a charter bus, bound for the Journalism Education Assoc. national convention in Seattle.
Annie will be helping them during their convention breaks with activities in the Seattle area.
That means we'll be grandpuppy sitting for four days.

So, with Easter over, a busy week lies ahead, and, according to the weather gurus, a "at least it's not snow" forecast.
I just love how they vary their forecasts as the truth starts staring them in the face when they've predicted a week of suns.

Oh well, at least it's not snow, and for that we are thankful.
Happy Easter Monday.
