Soccer was serious business yesterday, as was beating the heat.
A family in-law/outlaw soccer match on the front lawn of the Lovestead brought out the both the beast and the best of highly competitive strikers.
Age did not matter in the ferocity department. Whether they were 10 or 40-something, all players put on their competitive switches.
A few bumps, bruises and torn finger nails in the heat of the action later led to scenes like Bishop's "self-baptism with a blue solo cup."
Some of us of the "elder set" remained content to sit in the shade. And, that was fun too.
Meanwhile, Bill had fun fishing and floating with his friend Chris on the Coeur d'Alene River.
He missed another wonderful meal with us at Cafe 95 at the south end of the Long Bridge but did make it home from the river by about 9 p.m.
Annie takes off today with plans to be back in Seattle in time for tonight's Sounders soccer match.
These wonderful days filled with family fun have sped by all too quickly.
Plus, the grass has grown faster than ever. So, it's the lawn-mowing program today along with staying cool.
I'm seeing hay equipment buzzing back and forth down the road, and the beautiful fields Selle are putting out that wonderful smell of newly mown hay.
We're blasting into summer and beginning the annual race to get at those projects that prepare us for another winter.
The cycle moves on, and this part is A-Okay.
Happy Saturday.
