I'm in the Jeans, and I Like It

I was just thinking how important jeans have been to my life.  There's evidence of their import in one of the closets.

Stacks and stacks of them---various sizes, various leg styles, various conditions.

Some have holes between the thighs.

Some are split in the crotch.

Some have severely frayed legs.

Some are covered with red and white barn paint.

Some are faded.

Some have hardly been worn----cuz they're too small.

My jeans collection represents several amounts of body mass from over the past 25 years.

This morning I'm happily wearing a pair of jeans that may not be considered "tight fittin'," but I'd call them snug.

They conform to my body---and there's plenty of that---but they do so comfortably and they don't look like someone painted them on me.

I'm feeling good about these jeans and really good that I have two new pair that actually fit and allow me to sit here without holding my breath.

I also am wearing some new unds today.  So, that doubles the pleasure and maybe even the fun.

Having fought the battle of the flab most of my life and having trimmed some of that, my inner self still tells me to go to the "plus" rather than "minus" sizes whenever I shop for pants.

A few weeks ago, I decided the frayed unds in the sock-and-und drawer needed some replacements.

So, I went to Wal-Mart, walked up and down the rows of bikinis, low riders and just plain briefs.

I wanted just plain briefs made from cotton, and I kinda thought colored panties would be nice.  So, I started narrowing down the choices in styles and sizes.

No colored offerings in the size I thought was right for me.

So, I came out of the store with a package of eight white cotton briefs.  It was a "buy six, get two extra" kind of deal.

I took 'em home and got really excited the next morning when it was time to slip in to a brand-new pair of panties.

New undergarments always make me feel like a new woman.

I felt pretty new for most of the day until it became obvious when the briefs started climbing my hips that maybe I'd chosen the wrong size----AND TOO BIG at that.

So, rather than dealing with constant rear-end pinches to pull the panty legs back down, I went into the house and changed into a pair of well-worn unds.  Life was better.

Still, I kept a note in my brain to get back to Wal-Mart and buy smaller cotton briefs.

Well, that happened yesterday, and I was thrilled to find a pair of six colored cotton panties in the smaller size.

Bonanza!

My next mission was to go across the street to Big R and see if I could find a new pair of jeans for wearing to town.

You see when I like a pair of jeans I wear them and wear them and wear them until they're almost thread bare, stained and faded.

It was time to get some "going-to-town" jeans and not boot cuts with extra long legs.  I've done that and have found that walking on my pant legs is not fun.

When I'm riding a horse, those jeans are just right cuz nobody wants to ride a horse with high-water pants.

So, going-to-town jeans and "riding your horse" jeans serve two different purposes.

Before asking for help, I looked over the jeans offerings, found what I thought was the right size, went in the fitting room, put 'em on, looked in the mirror and decided "baggy jeans" have no purpose in my life.

So, I handed them back, went back to the pile and found a smaller size.

Perfect fit AND an added bonus:  deep pockets!

Yes, my jeans really need to have deep pockets cuz that's where I carry my change, wadded up dollar bills, keys and one or two Advil.

It's truly amazing the world hasn't gotten rich off from the money that has threatened to fall out of many of my scanty jeans pockets.

Seems like too often if you get a smaller size, you get no pockets, to speak of.

Well, yesterday's find was truly a bonus.

I was so happy I told the clerk I wanted two pair.  I'm that kind of person with clothes---if one fits and looks good, buy a second.

Well, there were no other jeans that size in that brand.  The clerk brought me another brand and sent me to the fitting room.

Perfect fit again and deep pockets again.

So, this morning I'm in my glory as I sit here typing----breathing easily----in my new unds and deep-pocket, snug jeans.

Life is good and it's the jeans that made it that way today.

Happy Wednesday.
