Water Fun for the White-Legged and the 4-Legged

The main requirement was privacy for those of us with farmer tans.   Well, water access ranked right up there.

We also had to find a place where dogs could tred (water, that is).

We found it, after a short walk through a pretty area.

Once there, we discovered that we did have to share the place with a handful of other folks.

We're kinda thinking they all had the same thing in mind:  I want to swim in the lake, and I don't need an audience.

We had a beach all to ourselves, complete with campfire spot and a bench to sit on.  Someone had even left hotdog roasting sticks.  A beaded bag hung on one of the Ponderosa trees.

"It's got blades in it," one sister reported, "probably for sharpening those sticks.

We enjoyed views of the Selkirks, even Chimney Rock.  The wide open beauty of our lake wasn't bad either.

All three pups had their first-ever swimming experience.  Yup, the dog paddle worked for Jessie, Meggie and Foster.

We're not sure how much some of them "liked" their first experience, namely Foster.

He remained noncommittal, cooperative but not overjoyed with his water experience.

He seemed to prefer rolling in the sand and feeding on some unmentionable next to the fire spot.

Meanwhile, the red heeler sisters delighted in racing to the water to retrieve sticks.  They're definitely a team as are their owners, Team Barbara and Laurie.

Funny how dogs take after their owners:  Foster's pretty much a loner; so am I.

We spent a good portion of time at that spot on beautiful Lake Pend Oreille yesterday afternoon while another portion of the family chose the Moyie for their water fun.

Pontoons and fly rods ruled the day for Bill, Debbie and Willie.

Debbie had to work a Girl Scout booth at the Boundary County Fair for part of the day, so Bill and Willie loaded up three pontoons, met her there and headed north.

It was a good day for them until the frame for Willie's pontoon broke.  Fortunately, they weren't too far from the take-out spot.

Yesterday was hot enough and beautiful enough to fully enjoy the full beauty and fun North Idaho has to offer.

Today we'll skip the water and start rounding up stuff to take to the Bonner County Fair, where Debbie will be setting up another display booth.

Lots of fun lies ahead.

Happy Sunday.
