Tuesday Twitterdeedum

Well, I plucked all my tomatoes last night.  It did not freeze.

It was time, though.  I'm feeling mentally ready to put the garden to bed anyway.  We kinda reach that point where there's no anticipation left regarding the seed we've sown for a season, and it's time to focus on clean-up.

So, that will be my mindset from now on.  Yesterday could have been the last lawn mowing for the year.  Now, I'll just let the leaves fall and pile up.

That's always kinda pretty for a few days.  The fall colors should be especially pretty with all those pumpkins out in the yard.

Then will come the seemingly endless work of picking up millions of leaves and hauling them off---hopefully before the rain weights them down.

~~~~~Looks like we've got another nice day ahead, and based on news I learned this morning, it's to be cherished, especially when one learns of another death among my longtime friends.
Every step taken, every beautiful image, every pleasant moment spent laughing or reminiscing----at this stage of life is truly a gift.  I never take that for granted.
Speaking of which, I told Annie in a phone conversation last night that I did not want to meet my maker this weekend in Colorado.
That was after she told me that I could switch to the "moderate" from the "extreme" trail for "jeeping," as she calls it.
"Oh, Mom," she said, "they allow only one passenger on the extreme trip, so you can go with (her friend) on the moderate trail."
Annie's sticking to the extreme route.  I don't want her life to end either.
So, I'm gonna make sure St. Christopher comes with us.  Maybe I'll pick up an extra for her if she doesn't bring her medal along.
Yesterday Mary McGovern shared with me a memory of Annie from her post-toddler days.
Apparently we were sitting in church fairly close to the McGoverns when Annie kept moving up and down our pew repeating "Jesus, Jesus, Jesus" and then "God, God, God."
More than likely, I was doing my best but failing to keep her quiet.  That was a consistent challenge at church with Annie.
One time, during that same era, when I had gone to the Confessional, Annie came to the door and opened it, only to be suddenly snatched away by Monica Beaudoin and returned to her pew.
Yesterday, upon hearing Mary's story on Annie, I had to share a classic I'd heard about Willie from his Catechism teacher.
"All the sudden Willie piped up and asked, 'Why are we always talking about God, God, God?' the teacher told me.
Well, the one thing with both of my kids----at a young age, they got the names of the principal players right.
~~~~Bill came back from his new old motor home trip around 5:30 yesterday,  quite happy with the experience.

He said he wished that he'd caught more fish, but everything else went well, including the big beautiful full moon lighting up the jagged Cabinet peaks in the background.

Looks like there's plenty of food left over too.  Some can be saved for the next adventure.

~~~~Guess that's all for today.  The blue sky and sun is calling, so Happy Tuesday to all.
I had a friend who use to pack for the government in Cle Elum, Wa.
One day he came over and watched me rake up the leaves.. and then asked me why did I do that. I explain my reason... when he said.. Cis, who rakes up the leaves in the forest? Don't you think God knows better than we do, that the leaves is the way God protects the trees roots? Made sense to me.. so never raked again. lol..
