Roll-top and Fun Times: the Auction

Auctioneer Jo Jo Baker,  pointing out items for sale.

Jo Jo and his wife Tyler leaning on their funky truck.

Jo Jo provides preliminary guidelines about the auction with the early crowd.

My former colleague and friend from  Sandpoint High School, shop teacher Yogi Vasquez.

Janice, Jack, Mark, Rayman and Cory, all neighbors; the latter two---our new neighbors from Texas.

Counselor Finney, out of uniform.

Neighbors Dan and Jim enjoying the festivities.

Jeremy (son to Yogi) and Jeff.  I talked about Jeff yesterday.  Hadn't seen him in 30 years 'til Friday night out there at Ice House Pizzeria.  Less than 24 hours later, I saw him again.  He's the owner of Paradise Valley Coffee.

Mary Taylor was happy to see her hubby Jim carrying his goods in this nice basket.  What she had not yet seen was the pickup load of other stuff.

We had no road rage at the auction yesterday, just a lot of fun.  It was an event for picking through a lot of stuff and submitting to the temptation to take some of it home.

I brought home a roll-top desk:  $55.

After hauling it home, I removed the bird do and a lot of dust---the desk had been sitting in a barn aisle-way for a year or two.

With Old English furniture polish, I shined it up, and soon it will make its final move upstairs.

Besides a myriad of assorted goods, many attendees brought home much more than just material stuff.  Neighbors met neighbors for the first time, while others more familiar with one another got right into gabbing.

Jo Jo Baker, an auctioneer and local radio personality, called the auction, with help from his wife Tyler and a few friends.  They arrived for their day's work in their funky pickup.

Jo Jo had quite a job, as sale items were located,  in no particular order,  in several buildings on the farm just down the road from our home.

The new owners, Rayman and Cory,  appeared to be in a celebratory mood since the stuff would be gone, and they could move on with their plans to landscape the place and find uses for the now-empty buildings.

There's nothing quite like a farm auction to bring folks together, and yesterday was no exception.

I'd say a good time was had by all who showed up.   And, I definitely enjoyed visiting with them and snapping a few photos in the process.

Besides that, I think I got a good buy on my roll-top.

This morning, the sun is shining brightly, and it feels like we're back to summer livin'.

Happy Sunday.
