POAC Meets Pour Authority---Fundraiser

Disclaimer:  This is a promotion of sorts.  If you love what the Pend Oreille Arts Council does with all its performances and educational programs for the Sandpoint area, though, you won't mind.

I'm just now learning about Idaho Pour Authority.

Quick glances at the place when it first opened a few months back next to Vanderford's on Cedar had me thinking "Idaho Port Authority" and thinking it must be some new governmental office in downtown Sandpoint.

Later, I learned its correct name and that it was a beer shop.

Just recently, I learned who runs the place.  Makes sense, I thought.

Jon Hagadone's dad probably owned that venue when he ran Sandpoint Furniture for decades on Cedar Street.

Here's the story of the place, straight from its owners' website: http://www.idahopourauthority.com/

About Us

In December of 2012, we (Vicki Reich and Jon Hagadone) struck on the idea of opening a beer shop in Sandpoint, Idaho.  We have been beer lovers and homebrewers for years and thought Sandpoint needed a store where people could gather to share good beer, talk about beer and then take a few home.
It didn’t hurt that Jon was ready for something new after 21 years in the building supply trade.  With Jon’s years of sales experience and Vicki’s experience in retail, we thought we could make a go of it.

Over the next few months, we put together financial projection and beer lists.  We completely remodeled the inside of our store and decided that carrying some cheese and chocolate to pair with the beer would round out our offerings.

At the end of May 2013, we opened for business.  We are so thankful for the incredible reception and support we have received from our customers.  We plan on continuing to supply Sandpoint with great beer for the foreseeable future.

This afternoon, Jon and Vicki will be teaming up with POAC and serving as the venue for the local arts organization fundraiser.  It's from 4-7 p.m., and I'm told to "bring dollars."

The event, which is a drop in-type affair involves beer tasting, a raffle and other gifts items available for sale, including local artist Randy Wilhelm's wonderful collection of "Simply Sandpoint" notecards.

Tasting features Oakshire Brewing of Eugene, Ore., www.oakbrew.com.  According to the website, while HWY 200 will provide the music.

And, remember that POAC's coffers will benefit from your participation.

I'm planning to attend, especially since I've never been inside the Pour Authority, which, I understand, is a very nice place.

Our mini Aussie Foster (Australian for beer, of course) visited the Pour Authority with some family members over Thanksgiving, and he came home a happy pup.

Maybe the experience today will be so much fun that I'll go back and even take Foster with me.

Anyway, it looks like Jon Hagadone's new establishment will benefit from this event as well as the arts council.  So, do drop by if you're in town Christmas shopping this afternoon.

Sounds to me like they might even have some great gift items between the beers, cheeses and chocolates.

As the promotion states, "Come enjoy the beer, art and good conversation."

Happy Wednesday.
