World Cup Grazing and More . . . .

Bill said to tell the barbecue guests that this wasn't exactly a Gonzaga game-----it was just the World Cup.

He wanted to put things in perspective.

I never did pass along his wisdom because regardless of World Cup or Gonzaga basketball, when there's good eats, folks show up.

And, we did have a nice graze-a-thon yesterday while watching the intense match between USA and Portugal.  If only they hadn't changed the stoppage time from four minutes to five minutes at the end of 90 minutes, we would be cheering this morning.

That goal, scored by Portugal in the last 30 seconds pretty much dulled the excitement that USA might just win this one.  They had to settle for a draw, but USA has already exceeded expectations, so it's okay with us.

While watching the match, we enjoyed the usual munchies and Bill's barbecued ribs and chicken.  Plus, Barbara brought her slow-baked beans in the same bean crock that Mother used.

Some mighty good eats for most folks 'cept me.  Everything tasted good, but I was suffering some tummy discomfort, which seems to be a bug of some sort.

So, I'm kinda dealing with the hurry-up-and-run penance of culinary indulgence this morning. At least, my body feels better than last night when achy muscles and some chills accompanied the unhappy stomach.

On the health scene, though, I'm thrilled to announce that itch season may be over.  Two days of lawn mowing last week and no itches to speak of.  Am hoping that I've seen the last of that for another year.

This first week of summer is looking like fairly relaxing, comparatively speaking.  All the activities of the first two thirds of June have subsided, and it's nice to look forward to a week with nothing noted on the schedule.

So, the flowers and lawn and critters will be happy, and maybe I can get on to some other projects, like painting hundreds of feet of board fence.  That's a project which will probably go on throughout the summer, but it may get its start today.

And, while I'm painting, I can enjoy that new whimsical touch to the lawn----the old push mower filled with flowers.  It's easy to move, so I can mow around it, and I smile every time I pass by.

So, Happy Monday to all.  Enjoy the week.  Maybe if my stomach settles down, I can enjoy some of the leftovers from yesterday's tasty graze-a-thon!

We agree with Bill. As interested as we were in the soccer game, it wasn't a Gonzaga game!!
