Happy Birthday, America

Wishing everyone a fun-filled, safe and memorable Fourth of July Independence Day celebration.

A couple of items, relating to this day.

Yesterday WWII pilot and renowned athlete Louie Zaperini died at age 97, just a few months short of fulfilling his wish to walk down the red carpet for the movie, based on his incredible life.

The movie Unbroken, based on the book by Laura Hillebrand (also Seabiscuit) and directed by actress Angelina Jolie, will open in December.

If you have not had a chance to read this book, I encourage you to do so.  It is truly inspiring, beyond words.

Louie Zamperini was nothing short of remarkable, throughout his entire life.

Secondly, if you're home getting ready for the barbecue rather than camping or attending a parade, tune in to The Price Is Right this morning.

According to our local paper, Kevin Van Stone, a 1995 Sandpoint High grad and classmate/friend of our Willie, will appear on today's show, representing the military.

And, if you are going to the parade or camping, get someone to record it for you, if you know of Kevin or his parents, Dale and JoAnn.

Nice representation from Sandpoint on this Fourth of July.

Finally, I found an inspiring version of the National Anthem, sung at last year's celebration in Washington, D.C.

Enjoy it and enjoy your day.  Happy Fourth!
