ANZAC Day Remembrance

Our family has good friends in Australia and New Zealand.  We love these people, treasure our various experiences with them and consider them extended family.

April 25 has been celebrated since 1916 in the two countries as  ANZAC (Australian and New Zealand Army Corps) Day.

With this year being the 100th Anniversary of the Australian-New Zealand troops landing at the Gallipoli Peninsula (April 25, 1915) during WWI, I'd like to honor our dear friends and their beautiful countries with a very special and moving video.

I used to play this song in my English classes and while the story of the troops going off to war and coming home was so beautifully sung by John McDermott, students sat in sober and respectful silence.

It's difficult not to shed a tear or two during this video that serves as another poignant reminder of the high price we pay for the principles in which we believe, wherever we happen to live in the world.
