Twas a Blustery Dusk

Clouds were billowing.  Branches were falling.  Sky was darkening.  Sun was hangin' in there.

Yup, we had a brief but notable rain shower last night, and along with it came a big rainbow extending from one part of the Selle Valley to another.  I'm sure it was even bigger than that, but we all know how perspective plays a major role in what we see.

We out here at Selle figured it was our rainbow, and I'm betting others around area were laying claim to it also; after all, there's always a chance for that mythical pot of gold.

Anyway, the brief storm provided weather action we haven't seen in these parts for a while. In fact, for one brief moment when the wind was really whooping the dancing frog chimes into action, the scene felt vaguely reminiscent of some of the wild and woolly events we experienced last summer.

At that moment, I summoned dogs and told them to get inside. Fortunately, this storm had more bark than bite, and we have no tales of destruction this morning---just a little fresher feeling in the air.

The big rains are coming, Tom Sherry says, and we do need them.

Pasture No. 1 is already looking eaten down, and we're just a third of the way through May.

Usually, Pasture No. 1 suffices the horses' needs until late June.  So, a little wet down along with warm temps should help the grass along.

Of course, that means more mowing for me and with more mowing comes more itching.

It's a vicious circle, but I'm figuring itching season should be ahead of schedule and completed by an earlier date this year, so thanks to Allegra and an occasional nightly Benadryl, I'm hanging in there.

The big rain is supposed to come tonight, so I should have the whole lawn mowed by then, and possibly after that, a two-three day respite from itching.

Speaking of itching, I'm itching to tell everyone about a very special programming note for this Saturday on CBS.

Just mark the time----2 p.m. Eastern--11 a.m. PDT.

Consider this just a teaser because I'm still putting my information together and will have it ready to go for tomorrow.

Hint:  it's a Sandpoint High grad with his family.  He has a phenomenal story, which just keeps getting better after a not-so-neat experience.

Saturday's newest chapter for this impressive human being and hero should be very heart-warming.

So, stay tuned, and Happy Tuesday.
