SHS Class of 1965: We ARE Alive!

SHS Class of 1965 reunion committee member Dennis Timblin, Mike Rosenberger, Donna Olson Coulter, Judy Dabrowski, Jim Holt and Mike Parkins.

The theme of the day yesterday during our reunion-committee meeting veered off slightly from our "thought-provoking" class motto of 1965.

WE WERE HERE.   The SHS Class of 1965 motto provokes thought only because we wonder who in the heck thought it up.

Such an astounding revelation to leave behind when a class sets off into the world to make their individual marks.

Well, yesterday, we didn't have to wonder the purpose or meaning of updating the motto to WE ARE ALIVE!

We appreciate that fact very much, those of us who will still be around to celebrate the 50th anniversary of our high school graduation this coming September.

Later, a friend told me about one of her contemporaries who sez that when he wakes up in the morning, stands up, looks down at his feet and sees no ID tag tied to his big toe, it's a good day.

We agreed that it is definitely a good thing to have a "no-toe-tag-day."

Our reunion-committee meeting was fun-filled but also marked with some thoughtful moments, speaking of those who have passed away over the years.  I haven't counted recently, but I do believe that number has risen to more than 30.

We shall celebrate each other, but we'll also devote time to remembering those whom we've lost.

Yesterday's gathering went along with the updated class motto.  Our reunion committee celebrated three birthdays in May.  So, we enjoyed a decadent dessert, prepared by the Pack River General Store staff----chocolate tort.  YUM!

I also asked the committee to hang around after the meeting for an outdoor photo.  Well, it started raining really hard, so they stayed on the deck while I raced out front to snap a few photos.

And, to stay in keeping with our high school years when the only color in the yearbook was on the cover, the end sheet and one title page photo, I chose black and white for this morning's post.

Color is abounding otherwise, and the sky the other night was putting on quite the show with billowing clouds, some filled with moisture.

We've had a nice wash-off over the past couple of days, and everything looks pretty and fresh. My lupine seem to be at their height, and the stalks have come in some new color varieties.

To say we are alive is consoling but to see the earth alive with ever-changing natural images is exhilarating.

Happy Wednesday.
