This and That

It's an overcast, gloomy morning out there on this Wednesday, but, happily, no precipitation is predicted over the next several days.

We like that forecast because some of us family members are headed to Ronan, Mont. Friday to pick up a couple of baby horses.

One named Eli will go to her new home in Upper Pack River where our friend Nancy lives.

The other "CB" will spend a while with Arty, another of his Ravenwood Class of 2017.  Arty belongs to my sister Barbara, and he's been living at Tibbs Arabians for a while.

CB is my new little darling. I'm getting mighty excited to start bonding with him in his new surroundings.  Of course, pictures to come, probably on Saturday.

Anyway, we are very happy that Mother Nature is cooperating with our schedule for hauling the babies.

In preparing for the new and busy baby-horse dimension in my life, I've been working diligently on completing my Christmas baking.

It has not been the most pleasant activity this year because the oven does not put out even heat for baking.

Lots of burned bottoms have led to baking with a lower temperature and constant checking to see if the cookies are ready to come out.

Not the easy ol' put on the timer, and everything will turn out okay.  So, I've practiced patience.

In spite of the challenges, I've plugged along and have managed to succeed with several varieties of goodies.  The week's goal is to finish all baking and then start on Christmas cards.

The morning gloom probably matches the moods of most folks in the ZAG Nation.

Not a pretty sight in Madison Square Garden last night as the ZAGS took on No. 4 Villanova.  It felt from almost the beginning of the game that this was not gonna be their night.

Sadly, that feeling only intensified and continued as the ZAGS fouled and missed and generously gave away the ball.

Tis the season of giving, but not in basketball.

As I noted to my friend, "Mama said there'd be days like this."  Not a great day for the ZAGS.

The ZAGS weren't the only Catholic ranked team to miss out on the blessings of victory last night.  Notre Dame (No. 9) lost to completely unranked Ball State.

Yup, Mama sure did say that . . . , and she was right.

So, we move on this morning with a little dark cloud looming over our beloved ZAGS, but the sun will come out and the ZAGS will rise again.

Happy Wednesday.

Enjoy the photos, all taken this week on a walk around the Lovestead.
