Pumpkins and Brews and Peeps

My daughter-in-law Debbie had never attended a Hickey Farms pumpkin party.  Nor, had her friend Tammie.

So, after I'd completed several outdoor yard projects yesterday, the three of us headed off to Hickey Farms where the pumpkin patch has been drawing visitors for the past several years.

Each year the event grows with its produce sales, craft and baked goods vendors, family activities and drop-dead scenery of wide open fields surrounded by mountains and forests alive with stunning fall splendor.

I think the Hickey-Holt family has once again outdone themselves at providing one of the most phenomenal and popular family highlights of North Idaho's fall.

Mother Nature provided an extra boost too.

They're open every weekend through the end of October.

I do think Debbie and Tammie may be visiting this wonderful event every year from now on.

Kennden Culp serving samplers at Matchwood Brewery's grand opening yesterday.

Yesterday's opening marked the culmination of a three-year dream for Kennden and his wife Andrea Marcoccio.

 Oh my, it was grand!

In my 70-plus years of living in Sandpoint, I've never seen such lines of people waiting to pass through the doors of a brand new establishment.

And, we didn't arrive until almost four hours after doors had opened.

Congratulations, Kennden and Andrea.

To say a good time was had by all at both the Hickey Farms happenings and the Matchwood Brewery open would be beyond an understatement.

Cheers to the folks who make all these fun times happen.

Happy Sunday.
