On a Soggy Turkey Day

First Presbyterian pastor Andy Kenaly and his wife Shawna came prepared for a wet turkey trot.

Thanksgiving Day 2018 is in the books and in the stomachs.

Twas wet and soggy, but that didn't dampen spirits too much.

Clothes?  That was a different story.

Our dryer had a workout after we came home from the turkey trot run/walk.

An unrelenting rain left huge puddles for splashing along the walk and had easily saturated  several layers by the time we returned to our car.

Still, it was fun, and Sandpoint West Athletic Club netted a nice supply of goods to turn over to the food bank.

After coming home and changing into dry clothes and watching the movie Wind River, Bill, Annie, Foster and I took off for another outing.

This time, Annie wanted to find a geocache on Fisherman's Island, so we headed to Sunnyside, where the rain had stopped temporarily and hundreds of birds were launching off and landing in the waters off shore.

Later, we came home and watched another movie starring Viggo Mortensen, who lives part time in the area.  We all really enjoyed his performance and the story line of Captain Fantastic.

The film was especially compelling toward the end when a scene turned out to be exactly on the spot where Annie was standing just last weekend while geocaching near Deception Pass north of Seattle.

Finally, we headed over to my sisters' for the turkey feast.  It was Emma of Berlin's first Thanksgiving, and she seemed to enjoy the festivities, filling her plate just like everyone else at the table.

And, there was plenty, which had been cooked up at the households represented.

Like any turkey day, yesterday's gathering ended with a lot of yawns, occasional nodding off and most stomachs dealing with severe overload.

I think Emma liked her first-ever American Thanksgiving.

So, today we'll all recover and take it easy on our stomachs.

Happy Friday.

If you watch "Shark Tank" and look closely at the beginning of the weekly show, you'll probably see  the young lady on the left.

That's Heather Harder with her mom Tammy, who works with Debbie at the Food Bank.

Heather is a communications specialist and account executive with Prosek Partners, a public relations firm with several offices on the East Coast.
