Weekend Album

When you don't have pretty toes to dangle over the water, Tevas will do.

This mother-in-law, daughter-in-law  pair, Marianne and Debbie, used the father-son fishing trip of Bill and Will Love to the Coeur d'Alene River as an excuse to take off on their own excursion yesterday.

"Which direction do you want to go?" I asked Debbie.

She didn't really care, so I suggested we head Priest River way and try out the River City Tap House for lunch.

It was closed.  Darn it.

So, plan B had us heading up the Priest Lake highway and pulling into Hill's Resort where we enjoyed a relaxing lunch.

Later, we drove over to Luby Bay Campground where the weekend "turists" had abandoned camp and gone back to wherever they normally live.

We had the dock to ourselves and seemingly the whole lake.

Twas a nice, peaceful and relaxing interlude, especially for Debbie who had worked the weekend with some other Food Bank folks doing a small remodel job.

So, the guys enjoyed their fishing, albeit slow, and the gals enjoyed their spontaneous Priest Lake outing.

So many moments, sights, sounds, lovely people, divine flavors.

Twas a weekend of pleasant, meaningful overload.

It seems that May has dished out the best of times this year.

For that, we are grateful.

For our family and extended families, this past weekend was truly something special in so many locations, for reasons too numerous to explain in detail.

Mainly, it was all good.

Again, we remain grateful for the abundance of blessings bestowed upon each of us as we enjoy each other, enjoy the beauty of the earth, the nostalgia, the connections and, most of all, this bountiful life on Earth.

I think it's safe to say that " a good time was had by all," even the tree toads on the sands along Priest Lake.

Happy Tuesday.

Outdoor exhibit in the arboretum at the Priest Lake Museum.

I gave in to my weakness for these colorful bird houses, went to the Saturday farmers' market and added two more to the Lovestead collection.

Longtime friends Karen and Jerry with their handsome canine buddy Mac.

Lovely lettuce keeps growing in the garden planters.  Saturday night, Bill and I enjoyed our first pasta salad with some of this lettuce.

Sunday night, after working and visiting for the day we decided to try out the new Burger Dock at First and Bridge in downtown Sandpoint.

My prediction:  better go try it before "turist" season really gets started, or you can plan on long lines.

The location, the decor, the friendly staff, the live music and the array of combinations all united by Woods Meats burgers AND the magnificent live music provided Saturday night by Sandpoint's Jake Robins----it's a fun blend and a great family experience.

Check it out!

When we first walked in to the new restaurant, Jake Robin, originally from Portland, was singing a Willie Nelson song.

If you like Willie Nelson, you'll love Jake's voice.

What a voice it is!

There's a strong resemblance but Jake also has his own unique and lovely sound along with a wonderful set of recognizable and beloved songs, suiting all ages and musical tastes.

Loved listening to him while enjoying my sticky burger and saying hello to a lot of hometown faces who were coming through the door for their first Burger Dock experience.
