Fair's a Wrap; What a Ride!

Bill and I each spent some time at the fair yesterday.  He sampled a sandwich from Meltz Extreme Grilled Cheese booth----five cheeses, bacon, etc.

He said it was both ample and tasty.

Meanwhile, I enjoyed a small sample of the cinnamon rolls baked by Priest River Food Bank volunteers.

Twas yum, yum, and I maintained my discipline:  a far reach from decades ago when I ate 13 of Eleanor Delamarter's fresh-baked orange rolls.

A nice man named Bill, who was hanging out with friends at the Senior Citizen book, cut off a couple of chunks of his fudge.

Again, yum, yum.

Once again the stroll through the grounds and moments spent watching some of the many activities on the last day of the fair were both a delight.

For about 20 minutes I sat on the "old-people's" bench reminiscing with Dick and Lillian Spade and remembering our days of youth when other elders sat in those benches as we would scurry past.

Our visit was interspersed by many side visits as old friends walked by.

We also experienced a flash mob, first one ever for me.

Slowly but surely members of the Suzuki String Academy appeared, and as the music got louder, the crowd of spectators grew.

The group was providing a teaser for their 2 p.m. concert.  It was neat to see and hear everything from ukeleles to violins to banjos.

A talking bus also rolled past us.  Turns out its friendly "sidekick/talking head" works at the school bus shop.

I was amazed that the fat stock sale was still going through the afternoon.  A friend standing next to me was amazed at the price of hogs still reaching $4-plus per pound near the sale's end.

All in all, twas another great and meaningful fair, and I'm sure that most who attended or participated will be looking forward to next year's edition.

Finally, on the Annie Does the Camino front, she started her walk from Porto several hours ago and should be winding down at her first Alberge soon.

After that, she'll probably recount the first day's event, so be sure to check

Happy Sunday
