"Seens" along the Roads from Kenmare to Clifden

Overwhelmed!

One gets that way after several days of Irish stimulants, and I'm not talking booze.

The people, the scenes, the moments---all experienced and all to be tucked away in the mind to savor.

In the midst of traveling, though, there's little time for savoring as the experience each new image, each new friend and each new moment awaits.

Once again, I repeat:  that's why I post on a blog every day. It's work for sure, but the process helps me remember much of what I've seen or experienced the day before.

Yesterday's timeline presented a challenge.  There was SO much.

Happily, there's that wonderful reminder:  a picture is worth 1,000 words.

So, enjoy the photos and brief explanations highlighting our trip from Kenmare, through Killarney Park, on to Adare (recommended by Tricia Sullivan), then into Connemara to see Connemara Marble (recommended by Cousin Patrick) and finally on to our destination, beautiful Clifden, about 50 miles from Galway.

Clifden has become one of our favorite places to spend time, and Sharamore House just a few miles out of town has become our "must stay" overnight accommodation.

We found this place last year and, while planning our itinerary for this year's trip, Bill said we had to have at least three mornings of Sue's homemade pancakes and John's fresh fish dishes and, of course, some strips of bacon from Des Moran's butcher shop.

It's likely that our stay may stretch to four mornings of all those tasty beginnings for each day.

The weather experts are still predicting strong winds and nasty weather, thanks to Hurricane Lorenzo.  The wind is blowing briskly this morning, but the good show is supposed to start tonight.

Predicted conditions may mean cancelling our trip to the Aran Island of Inishmore.  Annie suggested we'll have to do that on another trip.  I guess that possibility will dull the disappointment should we have to cancel.

Anywho, life is one big adventure, and our Irish adventure promises enough of the unknown that it may be more of an adventure than we had planned.

We'll take it as it comes and make the best of it.

So, for now, enjoy the photos. Next time I post, which I hope is tomorrow, there could be some interesting tales.

Happy Thursday, and to our dear Miss Emma:  safe travels as you return to Sandpoint to enjoy Homecoming, you Idaho friends and your extended family.

Enjoy the photos, especially the Irish wisdom at the bottom.

NOTE:  If there's a gap for a day or even two between blog posts, it's because of  weather-caused power outages or no access for wi-fi.

So, check back.  Thanks

I learned from these fine young men yesterday that my friend Des Moran, town butcher of Clifden, has retired.

I think his replacements are doing just fine.  They tell me Des' name will remain on the store front.

Nice visiting with you Tom and Sean.
