Snow, Rain; Throwbacks

I did some trail blazing yesterday afternoon.

This morning, I'm wondering why.

Announcers on Coyotee Country Radio station in Spokane were saying that for the next 10-12 days it will precipitate.

Several of those days precipitation will be rain.

So, I'm thinkin' the trail I started through the woods may just get washed out before Bill or I get to use it again.

Bill did some plowing in the mushy driveway while I took a trip on my snowshoes from one end of the place to the other.

The snow was deep but soft, making for fairly easy moving for an old lady.

I took it slow and spent time, stopping every so often to enjoy different perspectives of the place which deep snow and work, work, work have not allowed us to do for the past couple of weeks.

By the time I returned to the house, Bill was ready to head out on his new snowshoes.

We both enjoyed our outings, but I'm guessing those initial trails will be pretty much washed out by the time we might want to go again.

Most of the snow has now fallen from the barn roof, but we have a shoveling job to do before letting the dogs out this morning.

The amount snow and ice slowly sliding off from the shop roof on the north side of the house this year exceeds anything I've ever seen.

This morning a curled mass about 18 inches thick and about 18 feet long came to a halt on the snow pile already on the ground, creating a culvert-like tunnel from the north end of the house to the deck.

Before letting the dogs out, we'll go try to break it down.

Anyway, the rains are coming and, I'm sure the bad moods won't be far behind.

Only 8 more days of January!

Hope you enjoy the TBT's below yesterday's snow pictures.

The snow hanging over the roof, after we knocked some down yesterday, is just the mere beginning of what has slid down overnight.

Throwback Thursday . . . .

This image of Kiwi and the photos above her were taken several years ago on one of our many enjoyable hikes at the Nature Conservancy northwest of Bonners Ferry and along the Kootenai River.

Haven't seen the doves hanging out around the feeder and the south lawn yet this year.

I'm sure they'll be showing up soon.

Beautiful birds.

Bill with local Presbyterian minister Pastor Andy during one of our many Lodgepole Society inductions.

This was taken a few years back when the tree was still standing.

Young Loves and Laumatias at a basketball game in Coeur d'Alene, back when Willie was coaching the boys.

Wouldya believe those triplets will be headed off to college in the fall!

Several Finney clan members.

We ran into them one winter day while walking the winter road in Upper Pack River.

Both the horses and the three sisters were much younger when this was taken.

I'm thinking this was 13 years ago when Lefty and Dusty had recently arrived from Montana.

How many remember the Extreme Home Projects?

This was Sandpoint's version, constructed in a week's time off from Baldy Road.

Good friends/fellow educators, enjoying a lunch at the Hidden Lakes Golf Club Restaurant, which burned down a few years ago.

Today I'm attending an "All-Classes" class reunion meeting.

Turned out the "All Classes" reunion (1950-1966) was scheduled for the same time that we scheduled our 1965 reunion, so we're going to figure out how we can make both events work for all involved.

These two ladies, Donna and Judy, have been regulars on class reunion committees since we started having our events.

This photo was taken at our 40th-year reunion.  This year we'll be celebrating our 55th.

Like most other classes, we've decided to start having reunions every five years for obvious reasons.

Eventually some of us won't be having to plan!  I think death is the only way to get out of serving on the reunion committee when you're a local.
