Monday Minutiae

Another busy and productive weekend has ended, and here we are back to a surprisingly pleasant Monday morning.

I've seen that the weather will take a downhill trend for a couple of days beginning this afternoon.

I don't really mind because, at this point, almost every last bit of my garden planting has been completed.

The manure pile garden is simply awaiting a couple of baby pumpkin plants.  Once they get started, who knows where they'll go as the vines wind everywhich way but loose down the poop hill.

The other section is all planted and fenced with netting and woven wire in with hopes that in the weeks ahead the deer will get the message and go raid someone else's garden.

Fingers crossed.

Besides gardening, I can report eventual success with CB and his liberty class for the virtual horse show.

My sisters came over Saturday afternoon, we filled a couple of Kirkland candy containers with rocks, and CB put on a show in the second pasture.

Lots of classes for other horse enthusiasts----anywhere in the world to enter.  It's as simple as signing up, then going out to the barn or your arena, following the guidelines of the class while someone photographs or films you.

Then, you send the photos or videos to the site, pay the entry fee, and you're in!  Each segment offers a few days to complete your requirements.

Plus, it's fun to see what everyone else is doing with their entries.

You can visit the site, which is updated several times daily at

https://www.facebook.com/groups/EEAHCVirtualShowSeries/learning_content/

If you love horses and don't have one, here's a fun way for you to enjoy horse activities without ever leaving home, any time 24-7.

Have fun.

If you visit, you'll see that my filming of CB could have been better, but he still looked nothing less than magnificent as he paraded around the pasture and let out the most emphatic snorts during occasional stops where he stood proudly like a statue.

Bill and I also spent some leisure time yesterday driving up the Hall Mountain Road north of Bonners Ferry.

I had hopes that the gorgeous wildflower patch on its south side would be alive with color.

We're going to have to go back because as we approached the top, thick fog enveloped us and a fallen tree, which had been cut for an opening, convinced Bill to turn around.  He did not want scratches on his new pickup.

In between drizzling rain, we also enjoyed a nice short hike to the Canadian border (yes, we were tempted). Am hoping that temptation goes away in the next few months!

Every morning I scroll through Twitter with my first cup of coffee.  Lots of moderate and extreme perspectives, as well as occasional tidbits of wisdom.

So, I'm thinking some mornings, I'll just share the items I see which evoke a wide range of emotions.  Hope you enjoy.

Twitter Tidbits:

from Pope Francis this morning . . . .

The #Beatitudes teach us that God, in order to give Himself to us, often chooses unthinkable paths, perhaps the path of our limitations, of our tears, of our defeats.

Do any of the above sound familiar in your life?

I protested in this exact spot a few days ago.

So scary. SPD says this man drove into the crowd and as you can see, comes out with a gun. SFD says a 27yo man has been shot and is in stable condition. Suspect in custody, gun recovered. #Q13FOX

nnlove is our daughter Annie. The night she protested in that same spot in Seattle, she handed out masks to other protestors.

I have seldom marched the streets in protest---preferring the written word as my preferred tool----but I fully support those who do peacefully, and I am very proud of Annie who uses common sense and conviction when she stands up for her beliefs.

Basically a month into this
podcast project, I want to THANK everybody who has participated, listened and followed on Twitter.

Intent is simple — create community & #growthegameidaho.
The hope? Post a new episode w/ coaches from across the state each week this summer.

The information above is another proud Mama tweet.

SHS girls hoops coach Will Love aka our son Willie created this podcast.

We have often talked about the creativity that has arisen during this Pandemic.  Now that another school year is at its end, Willie can probably devote more time to this podcast about coaching in Idaho at the college and high school level.

So far, the podcast  has featured some former Sandpoint High head coaches (Duane Ward and Kent Leiss).

Other programs have spotlighted Coeur d'Alene High girls BB assistant John Naccarato, Post Falls High School boys coach Mike McClean,  current University of Idaho men's basketball coach Zac Claus, and most recently, Rc Lundgren College of Southern Idaho assistant and former Vallivue High School head coach

Programs vary in length, some extending more than an hour.

You can listen to the podcast in a variety of venues.  I signed up for Spotify so I could hear it.

Willie is always looking for suggestions of folks to interview, so give each episode a listen and pass along your ideas for upcoming interviews.

Enough tweets for today, as I have a busy morning ahead.

Happy Monday.
