Cuteness and Stuff

I made a Bode-Dickens run yesterday afternoon.

A brief aside:  two nights ago we enjoyed barbecued hamburgers and some fun family visiting at Willie and Debbie's home.

Upon leaving, I said that we needed to do this "gab-and-grub" stuff more often.

And, so, maybe a new phrase has been coined for our family get togethers.

Only problem I've noted is that the acronym form of this activity is "GAG."

Not so good when part of the program is eating.

Well, happily, with this morning's coinage of "Bode-Dickens" run, there's no acronym to spoil the fun.

My Bode-Dickens runs, as many may have noted, involve the camera and adorable animals.

Yesterday's run focused on the new herd at the neighbors' farm.

If ya happen to blink, there's usually a new animal or two occupying space at the Selle farm.

This time, four-plus showed up over the weekend.

"Plus," means there's one still in the cooker about to pop out.

My, are these red bovines ever cute???

And, yes, I went crazy with my camera while Boston and at least two of the four Bode-Dickens dogs accompanied me to the rich, green and yum-yum pasture where the cows are living.

So, after a day of watching limbs flying from trees,  flower pots being blown over, panels detaching from the greenhouse and a day-long general mess unfolding, the brief escape to see the Bode-Dickens new herd of Scottish Highlanders offered an adorable treat for my eyes.

Cows are happy, dogs are thrilled and peeps are smiling with this new addition.

And, at any time a brand-new little one should join the herd.

Stay tuned.

My enjoyment yesterday was followed with some frustrating moments, trying to cover and save all vulnerable plants from an impending frost.

Try covering tomatoes with sheets while the wind is blowing madly.  Not easy, but adding a shovel and a rake and several boards to hold down the sheets finally did the trick.

Four upside down black pots with big rocks on top hopefully saved my wagon-wheel garden flowers from dying over night.

Today, before mowing the lawn with its mass of gloating dandelions, I'll be spending the better part of an hour removing all the protective gear from veggies and flowers.

By day's end, however, the place should look fairly respectable again.

Yesterday turned out to be a great day on one front, thanks to the voters who turned out to return two members each of the library and hospital board to attend to their duties.

School levies passed too.

Overall, it was a great day for education throughout Idaho and for reasonable approaches to the duties associated with valued public entities.

Thanks to those who serve and continue to act as responsible stewards for the public good.

Also, thanks to those dedicated workers who inspired  voters to get to the polls.

Your work on both levels is appreciated.

Finally, I want to congratulation my friend Michael Deprez.  He's the SHS golf coach.  His team of girls took the Idaho state championship yesterday.

Mike is so deserving because of his knowledge of golf and great coaching but also because of the support he continually gives to all the other Sandpoint athletic teams.

Below is a wonderful story of this team's road to the championship.

Congratulations, Mike and the Bulldogs.

Happy Wednesday.  Enjoy the photos.
