FUN Summer Adieu

A few weeks ago, Bill announced that he wanted to go to Spar Lake.

It's a lake with no outlet in the mountains south of Troy, Mont.

So, we went.

We kayaked, Bill fished and we had a picnic with sandwiches from the Clark Fork Pantry.

We called that day's experience a mini vacation.

Later, Bill wanted Willie to see Spar Lake because Willie does a lot of fishing around Troy.

So, they went, fished and dined on Pantry sandwiches.

On one of the rare days of the summer, they got rained out as the skies opened.

Still, Willie wanted Debbie to see Spar Lake.

Since yesterday was his last official day of summer (he's welcoming students at Sandpoint High as I type),  Bill, Willie, Debbie, four dogs and I traveled to Spar Lake---of course, stopping off at The Pantry to get sandwiches.

I don't know who had more fun----the dogs or the peeps.

The lake is known for its ever-decreasing water level during the late summer.

Twas very noticeable yesterday when kayaks were toted through squishy mud to the shoreline.

And, it was definitely a dirty-dog day.

While Debbie and I watched the dogs and chatted with other travelers visiting the lake and campground for the first time, the guys spent a couple of hours on the lake fishing.

They got skunked.

Still, it was a gorgeous day on the water for them.

And, there were Pantry sandwiches awaiting them.

As we headed down the mountain from Spar Lake, with Willie and Debbie ahead of us, we saw Willie pull off the road, just past a bridge over Lake Creek, where he had never fished before.

He rolled down his window and announced, "I'm gonna try to catch a fish," adding that Debbie had given him 30 minutes.

I never heard if he succeeded, but it was obvious he was going to enjoy every possible fishing moment before a new school year began.

Liam was fascinated by the kayaks.  We may just have to teach him to ride a boat.

Anna and her partner pulled the adorable hand-crafted trailer into the lake area yesterday and spent some time relaxing.

Anna, a nurse, is active in politics in the Hamilton area and she loves dogs.

We had an enjoyable visit.

Debbie and I met Mike and Maria while strolling around with the dogs.

They live in Troy and in Tennessee, and they share the same love for nature and the outdoors as we do.

A Squeeze Inn birthday party in Clark Fork.

I decided to call this photo:  Many Moons.

Front Row:  Chris, Judy, Pat.

Standing:  Sally and Cory.

Last night these Moon family siblings gathered with close friends at Clark Fork's Squeeze Inn to celebrate oldest sister Chris' birthday.

I'd gotten a tip on Saturday from Chris about the dinner plans.  Bill and I just happened to be driving through Clark Fork on our way back from Spar Lake, so it seemed like a fun thing to do to crash the party with my camera.

Sally was nice enough to take a photo of Chris and me. BTW:  My dear friend Chris took the profile photo for my blog---many moons ago.

We've traveled a mile or two together over the years.

I don't know if the same electrician was working when Connie Burkhart and I came onto this Earth, but it sure seems that we share similar wiring.

That's precisely why I'll suggest that you read her latest blog entry.

The similarity of our lives and thoughts is astounding.

And, to think she also has Border Collies.

Happy Tuesday
