Ice Rink in Sandpoint; Quiet Day in Tulsa, Et. Al.

Thanks to a gentle early-morning breeze, I can hear the melodious sound of chimes from the deck below my window.

I have also seen stars in the sky and maybe even the Space Station this morning, twice on the latter.

So, it must have been around 93 minutes between my trips outside.  On second view, the bright object was also following the same route, so I'm guessing that's what it was.

Those early morning sights and sounds suggest a beautiful day ahead after off-and-on rain throughout the day yesterday.

On this Wednesday morning, I read a major news story (extra bold headline) in the Daily Bee that an ice rink is planned for Sandpoint.

Looks like, from the artist's concept that it's going to be behind the sheriff's office and just south of the fairgrounds.

On that note, I'm wondering what's planned for the Roberson property to the south of the sheriff's office and the planned rink.

Have to admit a feeling of sadness while driving to town a couple of times this week, via both segments of Boyer.

No remaining hints of the past history of the Roberson and Racicot farms since both have been completely razed since my last trips down Boyer in September before we went on our trip to Ireland.

Heck, there's even been a road built through the middle of Roberson's.

Those sights signaled to me that the neighborhood where I grew up is left in only the minds of those residents still living and maybe a few family photos or museum items.

Thank goodness, the memories are still rich and dear to my heart.

Meanwhile, off in Tulsa, some rich memories continue to be made by the three siblings and their human and horse friends. They're taking a day off today, and all agree that will be good for Dusty.

He's been a busy horse, taking those five Top Ten ribbons, so everyone agrees he deserves a rest.

They'll start up again tomorrow with more preliminary classes as the Nationals wind down.

A professional photographer in Tulsa took this wonderful photo of Barbara and Dusty below.

My heart bounced back to Ireland this morning when I saw the flier below.

Bill and I spent three or four hours sitting in The Bar on the Aran island of Inis Mor on a rainy day earlier this month.

That's when we got acquainted with sweet Bridie, the manager and when we got to visit with Mary Radcliffe.

Good memories there, and I'm sure the Halloween festivities this weekend will be lively.

Have fun, Bridie.

I found the story below interesting. Blaine County is certainly an anomaly in Idaho---great for its residents but a sad reflection on the rest of the state, especially here in North Idaho.

After reading the piece, I wondered if our area had experienced the initial barrage of cases, seeing the consequences of Covid, would we be doing better as far as vaccinations.

I remember Bonner County having just four cases for a few months at the beginning of the Pandemic.  Yesterday's paper showed 110 over the weekend.  This morning, happily, the count was in the low 30s.

Finally, I didn't go out and get our paper yesterday as usual because of watching the horse show in Tulsa.

Twas later that I saw that hubby Bill took up the last page with his piece about stopping at bridges over "cricks."

And, I can validate that what he says is true.  Have been riding shotgun on many of those stops.

Enjoy his article and the photos.

The rain did help create quite a palette around the Lovestead yesterday afternoon.

 And, Happy Wednesday.

great timing on the ice rink announcement, don't you think? Let's see - the LOT will gather $12 million over 7 years and the ice rink is costing $10 million. Just how much does the city plan to throw at this project? No matter who builds it - governments or the "corporation," user fees are going to be very high in order to maintain and operate it. But after you buy that bridge in Kansas and that waterfront property in Florida, take another swallow and be sure to vote for the LOT and throw away some more money. Give us something we need like STREETS! Maybe the ice rink will push us to the leader of the pack over Whitefish and Vail and Aspen and Sun Valley. AArrgghh! Let's be awake, people!
