Out with a Bang!

from sister Barbara Tibbs:

Well, Dusty did it! He went out with a Bang!

Thursday's showing was more than we could have hoped for, but Dusty pulled everything together in a late night session with gusting winds and pelting rains pounding on the Mustang Arena at the Tulsa Expo Square.

Although Laurie didn't make the cut to move on in a large and beautiful western pleasure class, she and Dusty had a marvelous ride with the lead judge also commented about the depth and quality of the competition in the ring.

Then after a short dinner break and a tack and rider change, Dusty headed off to compete in his last class of the National Show: Half-Arabian Ranch Riding AATR 55 & Over.

We were the 12th draw of 39 entrants. After his run, Dusty's scores topped the leader board. We waited in the warmup paddock for the other competitors to make their runs.

Finally, about 2/3 of the way through the go, the horse who had been National Champion for the past two years pulled ahead of us.

Then the agonizing wait to see if we would remain in reserve, but our scores held and ended up with the beautiful Copper trophy the Reserve National Champion neck garland and a third belt buckle to add to his 2021 national collection.

We decided he definitely "went out with a bang!"

Here is a cute song to go along with it. It may be silly, but it's cute. More pictures will come later.

Thank you to everyone who helped us get here!
