Penultimate, YAY!

We are here, ready to rejoice in the fact that we have almost survived another January.

I love this day because, obviously, it means only one more day of this month, and I like to use the word "penultimate."

Not too many occasions for that usage, but it's a definite winner for the second to the last day of January.

Other months, I'm not so concerned or probably even aware when the second to the last day comes.

But always January. We are having a snow event for this day of penultimacy.

I thought they were lying to us about the snowstorm because every time I looked at my phone, the icons showed sun and clouds and no precip.

Twas the discovery this morning that the phone's weather forecast had mysteriously switched over to Nampa, not Sandpoint.

That discovery came just after I had once again checked the forecast and had announced to Bill that we were getting off easy and not having that big storm.

He seemed to think that was okay and headed to the bathroom.  I had just put my phone down when out of the corner of my eye, I saw "Nampa" not Sandpoint on the screen.

Hmmm, I said to myself as I leashed up Bridie and walked out the door where snowflakes were already falling.

So, we'll see what this brings us and maybe we'll do like we did yesterday:  a little of this and that alternated with watching sports on TV.

It was a great day for watching college basketball games yesterday, and, if the action is anything like last week's, we should see some great NFL games.

Yesterday, I also did some "couch potato" photography, watching games and turning away with the camera every time a new visitor came to the bird feeder complex.

Those woodpeckers are frequent visitors and so pretty.

During the afternoon, while taking the dogs out, I also found one advantage to the petrified deep snow which has hung around for so long.

There's a place in the fence along one of the pastures where dogs and people can step over.

So, that's what the doggies and I did.  Once in the field, Bridie and Liam played their hearts out while Foster supervised.

It was nice to have the big open area where we could walk or play on top of the snow to our hearts' content.

And, so we're penultimating today and getting ready to celebrate saying good bye to January tomorrow.

Happy Sunday.

In the "how cool is this?" category, it's neat to see photos like this.  This one appeared on Twitter.

It includes four former ZAGS competing against each other and loving seeing each other at an NBA game.

Personally, to have met three of the four in person after ZAGS games, it's even more exciting.

Killian Tille (Memphis), Corey Kispert (Washington), Rui Hachimura (Washington) and Brandon Clark (Memphis).

Brandon even helped me figure out how to use my phone camera in the dark after a game we attended in San Diego a few years ago.

Pretty soon, it looks as if we'll have double ZAG enjoyment with so many of "our boys" going to the NBA.

And, it's pretty cool that Willie's SHS girls basketball team took another win yesterday at Les Rogers Gym.

As noted in the article by Bee sports reporter Dylan Green, the Bulldogs are in the driver's seat for getting a top seed in the district tournament.

They simply have to win one of the two games they play this week against Moscow.

This morning I want to wish Dylan Green well as he moves on from a great stint as the Daily Bee sports editor.

He's done a phenomenal job and is sure to do the same as he takes on the next chapter in his career path as a sports lover and journalist.

Best of luck, Dylan.

Congratulations, Willie and the Bulldogs.

We learned last night during the ZAGS game that our total focus on the TV spells opportunity for Bridie.

She spent some time during the game going through her arsenal of toys, including the chew rope which she often launches into the air and which often comes in for a landing in dangerous spots.

Bill said he might start wearing his protective glasses when Bridie's playing with that toy.

So far, it has missed both of us, but come close to doing some significant damage.

Well, the toys kept Bridie busy for a while, and since she seemed to be busy, we just kept watching the game, later seeing that she had found the gift wrap in the bedroom.

First came red tissue to the living room, quickly ripped into strips. Then, Bill found the main collection scattered through the bedroom.

Gotta shut those doors, and Bridie might be doing crate time during upcoming games cuz we do focus and when they're hurling 18 three-pointers during a game, we don't want to miss a thing.

GOOD JOB, ZAGS!
