At times, her wrath seems to be so intense that she takes it out on the earth and its inhabitants.
If people did some of the wretched things Mother Nature does to humans and animals and the environment, they would probably spend time in the big house.
Some people anyway.
I think back on this winter and all the draconian toil she unloaded on us over the course of a few days as an example.
Heck, some are still digging out from her last temper tantrum, while others are figuring out how to replace the homes she burned or flooded.
Such damage she does. Yet she gets away with it.
There's no jail cell or trial court or even Supreme Court needed to bail out Mother Nature for her bad deeds.
That may be possible because this ol' gal---whom we've never seen in a painting or a photograph or on television or on the front of a supermarket tabloid---she does a lot of nice things that make us happy.
She's really good at trade-offs.
Okay, today I'm going to blow and blow and blow a bunch of your trees or your house down, but in return, I'll give you a big batch of blue sky and great big sun.
And, I'll even throw in a lovely assortment of pristine scenes to melt your heart.
Yup, it's true, we forget Mother Nature's sins really soon when the air is warm and breezy and the cute little birds are singing and flitting from bush to bush and, even in the outdoor gallery her nasty winter damage, we get to see intricate works of natural art, making mouths open with a gasp and our hearts beat with a delighted pitter patter.
And, so Mother Nature continues on with her extreme personality---scorning and punishing us one minute but uplifting us and bestowing us with unimaginable hand-outs of nature the next.
The yard art dished out by Mother Nature yesterday here at the Lovestead, in the midst of many reminders of her last outrage, displayed just how off the charts her talent and her generosity to us lowly Earth creatures happens to be.
So, we experience one more day and maybe even several more when Mother Nature gets an A for her efforts---til the next time she dishes out some of her nasty side.
I guess sometimes we learn to accept the good, the bad and the ugly and let the culprits off the hook.

On another topic, are you one of those mentioned in the article below????
I am.
If you are, I can tell you that the piece offers some really helpful ideas to think over carefully and maybe put into action, especially when you are awake at 3 a.m. mulling over magnified problems.
Before coming upstairs to do this post, I saw that "The Power of the Dog" swept the Academy Award nominations.
Of course, since Bill and I have had a certain dog on our mind more than usual for the past five days and because we love our trio, we thought the news sounded nice.
We, however, had no idea about the storyline for the movie. We've been too busy with dogs and Mother Nature to read the book, and we have not seen the movie.
So, of course, I looked it up and found that the movie is based on a verse from the Bible and not even Rudyard Kipling's poem "The Power of the Dog."
I learned that the movie deals with human relationships rather than dogs.
All that said, it's hard not to think of dogs when dogs are mentioned. After all, many of us humans do have wonderful relationships with dogs and probably not as many conflicts as we may find with other humans.
And, since I'm on the subject of dogs, "Bridie is back!"
That's what I heard from Bill this morning after Bridie went through the night with no accidents and Bridie has started eating again and thinking she needs to bounce from wall to wall and clutter up the living room with her crate items.
We are so happy that her tummy seems to be back in order. We and Bridie have now made it through a third of our post-surgery sentence.
Only eight more days after today. At least, now that she's not having accidents, we might be able to take walks with her in different places besides the Lovestead.
Good leash training for Bridie and good outlets for all of us.
Happy Tuesday.
Looks like Mother Nature is in an okay mood.
