Change in the Air

Back at "living" again. Yay!

My oh my, that booster shot Wednesday sent me into a temporary tailspin.

Twas not unexpected, but still ultimate misery has a way of dimming one's general outlook.

Happily, as expected, this temporary blip on the road of life ended about noon or so yesterday---after the second Tylenol.

It was almost like a switch had gone off.  One minute miserable and then, suddenly, I was excited about life again. When that happened, I felt downright euphoric and ready to take on the world.

Well, maybe not quite THAT invincible but still noticeably more enthusiastic.

After finishing some projects here at home, Foster and I went to town and picked up a few items, including a big bag of sunflower seeds from Co-Op.

Time to start loading those bird feeders again.  It could be that when the rain and cold come, so will the birds.  That will signal the start of one form of winter entertainment which we love around here.

On my way home, I took a side trip on the Hidden Valley Road.

It seems as if our fall color is gradually blowing away. Some trees are nearly empty, so one has to go looking for some pretty scenery.

Hidden Valley off from HWY 95 did not disappoint.

I feel a bit of sadness this week, knowing that one of the most satisfying and beautiful summers followed by an extraordinary autumn is coming to an end.

This year we have been gifted with day after day of phenomenal natural beauty and oodles of opportunities to enjoy it all.

Now, thought, we must make the switch and dig deep into our creativity to endure the dark months ahead.

Our ZAGS help do this for us, as do birds at the feeder, great television programming and other winter-time sports.

When the dark months set in and as we keep getting older, the work load on a farm intensifies in severity.

That's not exciting to think about, but again, some creative approaches around here, along with planning may ease the load.

It's all part of the dues we pay to live the lifestyle that we have chosen and that we love so much.

So, we'll keep plodding along, facing the onslaught of obstacles and doing our best.  It may be a LONG way away, but spring and new life will come.

For now, I'll keep chasing that color until the last of the leaves fall to the ground.  Then, I'll pick 'em up if the weather allows.

We have another little change in the air with Annie home for the weekend.  So, we'll do a little birthday stuff, bundle up as much as necessary and just enjoy family.

Happy Friday.
