Saturday Slight

This is the story of the weekend in our region.

I copied this photo from Twitter with the caption that a viewer had captured the image while landing at Spokane Airport.

My sisters have just acquired at least four more horses early this morning. It could be seven.

The horses belong to families from Chattaroy, Wash.  They had already loaded up and received the official word at 3:11 this morning to leave.

Up to that time, they were busy through the night loading and arranging for temporary homes for their horses.

Barbara and Laurie's arena will serve as a safe place for these horses.

Sandpoint is smoky but safe at the moment.

But around Spokane (southwest and north) and south of us near Hayden Lake, I'm sure it was a sleepless night for thousands as they received word to evacuate.

High winds yesterday and dry dry conditions teamed up to create this situation.

This morning it's dramatically cooler than yesterday, but the breeze is still going and the air quality is awful.

And, so we all hope for the best, that this crisis will die down soon and that people will be able to go home and get back to their lives.

Keep them all and their animals in your thoughts.
