Time Out for Liam

That Liam would die on his eighth birthday is inexplicable.

That he is gone forever is incomprehensible and heart breaking.

That he received loving attention and care during his last hours from Elisabeth, Debbie, Laurie and an emergency veterinarian is helpful and reassuring.

He couldn't have been around more loving souls.

That we were able to say "good bye" to our beloved Liam over the phone from thousands of miles away and through an ocean of tears is a blessing.

That he died from some element of toxicity, possibly antifreeze in an unknown area, is a message for all who have animals who could easily meet the same end.

After my sister Barbara checked around our place for any possibilities, we still have no idea where Liam found the toxic material. 

Antifreeze is deadly. Its sweet taste lures pets.

Read this, check around your place, remove any potential hazards and ensure for yourselves that Liam did not die in vain.  

In the meantime, we are mourning and will be shedding tears for some time with this sudden loss.

Our daughter Annie advised us against coming home from our trip early.  

"Finish the trip and know that Liam's spirit is in Ireland," she said to us early this morning.

We shall.

A great dog who has gone to Border Collie Heaven with Kiwi and Kea.

Say a few prayers for Bridie and Foster who will be missing their buddy Liam as much as we will.

"He sure has stamina," said herding trainer Norm Close. Liam used his "stamina" for hours on end, keeping the horses in line.
