Fun-Filled Saturday

Bill and I packed it in yesterday, both food-wise and activity-wise.

I'm glad we don't have scales around here because more than likely we added an ounce or two to our bodies.

Between the Mennonite craft and bake sale in Bonners Ferry and last evening's Inland Forest Management year-end party at Trinity Restaurant, we had more than enough to eat.

First, let me tell you about Vanilla crumb pie.  The ladies at the craft and bake sale weren't quite sure of the full recipe, and I wasn't really sure if I wanted to try a piece, but I did.

I will find a recipe because every bite tasted better than the before. It's good stuff.

Meanwhile, Bill ordered the thick potato soup and cornbread for his lunch.  It was tempting to grab a spoon and help him eat his soup because it looked so good.

But I had a nice big piece of pie with my coffee and knew that we would be having a feast at the company party, so I restrained myself.

We expected that the annual holiday sale would be pretty picked over by the time we arrived, but we still enjoyed some fun visiting, including a few minutes with two of my former Ponderettes, Mona and Lori.

Now, let me tell you about the dinner rolls at the company party.

I ate three.

They were THAT good, and I think some of the folks sitting around me may have also grabbed more than one from the basket.

Bill had salmon for his dinner, while I chose prime rib.  We both enjoyed our main dishes.

Then came dessert:  three items cuz there were people attending from France and a gentleman from Georgia.

So, our dessert plates included cheesecake with a huckleberry syrup for Idaho, peach pie and a macaron.

The dessert and the pretty long-stemmed roses handed out to spouses of employees topped off a really fun evening.

Bill and I haven't attended a company party since before the Pandemic, so last night was a special treat, especially considering that it was one of the last meals to be served at Trinity.

Our day also involved driving around rural roads on Bonners Ferry's north bench and enjoying a walk with the dogs at the park along the river.

It was a gorgeous day, and wherever we went, people were taking advantage of the sunshine.

During the morning hours, I also picked up some grain and other items from Co-Op Country Store where I met Kelly McFarlane in person.

We had just become Facebook friends after I learned about her service and dropped off a horse blanket at Co-Op last week for Kelly to wash.

Kelly provides this service for horse owners, and I have heard great reviews of the work she does. Plus, folks say she's very reasonable.

"If it goes on a horse, I can work with it," she says.

So, if you're a horse owner in the area, check out her Facebook page at Cedar Mountain Blankets.

This morning, as I look out the window, I'm wishing my new eyes would not be seeing what they see: white flakes falling from the sky and sticking.

Hopefully, they won't "stick around" long.

And, by golly, a minute later, the snow seems to be letting up.

We'll see what happens.

Happy Sunday.
