Record Numbers

Three of our six trick or treaters sit on our couch with a quilt crafted by their great-grandmother Virginia behind them. And, dang!  I forgot to tell them last night.

🍫🍫🍫🍫

An M & M, a hunter and a kid, snatched by an alien, walked into our house last night.

Wha'd they get?

A bunch of candy and two old people asking them a bunch of questions.

How sweet it was!

They enjoyed selecting their candy, and Bill and I enjoyed visiting with them.

Twas the first time we'd met the Wood twins, Zak and Tyler, but not their cousin Logan.

Logan, who's in fifth grade, remembered putting hay in our barn a couple of years ago.

His big brother Levi has done that a few times.

The Wood twins, both wrestlers in the eighth grade, agreed that one of them looks like Mom while the other looks like Dad.

They also knew that I had their mom as a student in school.

This trio made up half of our trick or treaters last night.

A record SIX showed up for 2023, all boys.

The other three boys came from the same family and fulfilled my prediction in yesterday's post:  only three of the five Taylor brothers this year.

Ethan, the oldest, is at Navy boot camp, while Evan, a high school senior, was at work.

So, that meant Eli, Everit and Emmit came with Mom Jen and Dad Peter to trick or treat.

Did I get that right, Jen?

After Eli kept answering to different names beginning with "E," Jen gave me a way to remember his true name.

Since he's the third of five boys, remembering that his name has just three letters will help.

So, at long last, I think I've got the five "ET's" straight.

As usual, we had fun doing a little visiting.  The same was true for Logan Wood's dad Ben, the driver who stayed in the car.  Bill and I went outside to say hello to him.

So, it was a good ol' fashioned neighborhood trick or treat night where we happened to be on a list of a number of places where the boys would get their treats and adults would get to visit.

Bill and I enjoy these brief interludes with the neighborhood kids, and we'll be ready with plenty of treats again in 2024.

When I went to my sisters' yesterday in Colburn, I enjoyed another encounter with Natti.

Natti indicated to me in so many ways that it's high time for Barbara and Laurie to come home.

Well, the wait won't be long.

They'll be home today after leaving Oct. 13 for Tulsa, and I'm sure they'll have plenty of stories to share with Natti.

Welcome home, Barbara and Laurie.

Miss Bridie has become my lawn mower/leaf pickup sidekick.

She sometimes runs alongside while I'm mowing, but most often she goes off and does her thing but listens for when I disengage the blades to empty the leaf bags.

Then, she comes running to watch the operation and maybe get a pat or two.

When the day is over, Bill and I will have just two dogs here as beloveds.  The horses will be spending their first night at their winter home.

The times, they are a'changin'.

Happy Wednesday.

Another time; other changes.

Enjoy and remember those times.
