Bliss-filled and Blessed Evening

A visit with longtime friends and a beautiful few moments of Christmas songs on the deck.

Our Sunday evening was pretty special.

We have been fortunate for the past few years to be on the caroling list of a group of German Baptists, many of whom live in the neighborhood.

Last year we wondered all day as it snowed and snowed where we would have the group sing because the deck was blocked off by a big snow berm.

Eventually, we decided the barn would work, and it did.

As the carolers performed, horses in their stalls watched and Mr. CB even nuzzled some of the singers.

It was definitely a Christmas classic for us and probably for the carolers.

No horses in the stable this year because they're spending the winter at another stable in the neighborhood.

And, very little snow.

So, it was back to the deck this year.

We invited Chris and Judy Moon to join us in listening to our German Baptist friends.

The word from our friend Nan was that the group would come somewhere between 4-6 p.m.

So, Chris and Judy arrived early, bearing some munching goodies to go along with soup and candies and other finger food.

The singers did not arrive until just before 6, so we were able to settle back in the living room and enjoy more than two hours of great conversation as Miss Bridie and Foster curled up and listened.

When the caroling group gets situated on the deck with their song books and starts singing, we are always mesmerized while listening to their Christmas songs (featuring all verses) and while observing the beautiful, happy and loving expressions on all the faces---young and old.

As they leave each year, along with the thanks, come the platter of fresh-baked cookies for them to enjoy as they go on their way.

It's, indeed, a joyful and blessed few minutes and always a memorable and beloved aspect of our Lovestead Christmas season activities.

Thanks so much to the carolers for honoring us with your talent and with your neighborly love.

Same goes to Chris and Judy whose friendship over the decades is a much-appreciated gift.

Bill and I always feel very blessed each year, looking forward to and then reflecting upon this wonderful happening.

Happy Monday.

For your listening and scrolling enjoyment, another collection of Celtic Christmas songs.

This one lasts about 50 minutes.
