Holiday Lull

I escaped to the world of Netflix yesterday.

Annie bought us a subscription for Christmas.

Even before she left for the airport yesterday, we had already started watching a Netflix series about a fake heiress.

Later, I tuned into "All the Light We Cannot See."

While I was enjoying some quiet TV time here at home, Annie was learning at Spokane Airport that her day may not go as smoothly as planned.

Three planes and several hours later, it appears that she finally made it back to Seattle.

So, the house here at the Lovestead is quiet by comparison this morning.

We're loving the cold, crisp experience of spending time outdoors.  About half an inch of light snow fell yesterday to brighten up the landscape.

A full moon over Schweitzer to the west, a magnificent and dramatic lead-up to sunrise in the east along with glistening, dry snow made this morning's first walk with the dogs a magical experience.

At times during the day yesterday, with the sun shining and snow falling, scenes out the windows had the snow-globe effect.  It was beautiful.

For the first time in a long while, we've all been enjoying regular walks throughout the entire woods.  This seldom happens in the winter.

Usually, we're limited to walking the lane, the driveway and the road for walking. And, often that's not very safe because of ice.

So, to have the entire expanse of 20 acres of beauty and nature is a most appreciated gift.

We do feel badly about Schweitzer's lack of snow for huge numbers of vacation skiers and boarders, but we'll certainly not quit enjoying the use our own space down here in the valley.

I'm looking forward to the Netflix experience over the winter as well as the new set of jigsaw puzzles.  I just have to find some space here in our somewhat small house to do the puzzling.

And, the next few days will be time for both reflection of the highlights of 2023 and anticipation of what's gonna happen in our lives in 2024.

Kind of a nice blend of "to do's" in the thought department.

Happy Wednesday.
